You know I loved V For Vendetta and I'm a Presbyterian, but I read Christian reviews of the movie that hated it because of Valerie's sequence, or because V "acted gay." Very dumb reviews indeed.
They make the mistake that stories like VFV and DVC are trying to promote something as right vs. wrong..... when in fact, they are elements for storytelling, and you should pay more attention to the theme of the movie rather than the content.
There are a lot of cases where, I think, Christians get unfairly antagonized in the media. And there are Christians who antagonize everyone else unfairly. For the most part, they are nice, caring people, who are given a bad name by the loud, wealthy ones who go on TV.
It boils down to ideas vs. ideaologies. Everyone has a right to their ideas. There are good ideas and bad ideas.
For example, "Feeding the poor is a kind and nice thing to do" is an idea some Christians have. "EVERYONE should believe in Jesus or else suffer" is an ideology some Christians have.
