Norville Rogers was not one for outdoors. Especially camping, not even the amazing fire cooked meals could make him enjoy camping. He’d rather be home, tucked away in his basement, watching the newest episode of Man VS Food. Tonight was a new episode and the food was tempting on the commercials.

His Dad and mom were laughing around the fireplace; his Dad currently had a marshmallow on fire at the end of the stick. He pulled it to him, blew it out, ate the crunchy burned later and held the stick back over the flames. He’s Dad was a giant man, an imposing cop with a friendly laugh. His Mom was a tiny woman who adored her family.

His little Sister Maggie, who only allowed her family to call her Sugie, sat glumly across from her parents. She didn’t enjoy camping either; she’d rather be safe and sound and clean in her room. Listening to music or reading, or even homework at this point, she was a good student, unlike him.

The only one who seemed to be enjoying themselves was Scooby Doo. But he was still a puppy, albeit a big one. He was happily rolling in the dirt in between stealing s’mores, sure they were bad for him but when he was on a mission nothing could stop him.

Shaggy flopped onto his back and looked up at the stars, ignoring the snapping of branches in the underbrush. He figured it was a raccoon and continued to gaze up at the night sky, trying to remember constellations. Velma Dinkley had told him some once during a walk through a graveyard one night. He kinda remembered once because it has one star that was red, Orion, the hunter.

“Shaggyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy,” his sister whined suddenly standing over him.

“Like, what’s up Sugie?”

“I have to pee,”

“Thank you for the update,” she kicked him lightly in the side, he laughed and rolled over.

“I’m not kidding! Mom and Pop want you to shadow me,”

“Ugh. Why? Like, can’t Mom go?” She pointed to their parents who were giving each other googly eyes.

“Like, uh-oh, if we don’t get out of here, we’re going to witness the creation of another sibling,” Sugie ewed and headed for the woods, Shaggy sighed and climbed to his feet.

A few minutes later, his Sister was far enough not to be seen but was in earshot incase she yelled. Shaggy sighed and leaned up against the tree, he hated camping on Spring Break. That’s when he heard his Sisters cries, and snarling.

He raced into the dark woods; she was in the middle of a path, a wolf in front of her. Its teeth were bared and it lunged towards his little Sister.

“HEY!” he shouted and threw a stick, trying to drag its attention away from her. It worked. The wolf growled and swung its full body to him. “Like, uh-oh.”

Before he could even run to draw it away, it slammed into his chest and began to rip, claw and bite at his skin. He tried to fight it off, but it was too strong. He heard his Sister screaming and Scooby barking. He felt blood pouring from the wounds he received to his chest. Scooby was chasing off the wolf, and Sugie came into his vision. She was pressing her hoodie to his chest and sobbing.

He lay there, stunned and confused, as some time passed and his parents appeared. His father was picking him up and carrying him somewhere but all he could see was the stars above. Then he was loaded in the backseat of their car, his Mother was helping hold the hoodie against his chest to stop the bleeding.

“Ma-” he choked out, he heard her sob softly and ask ‘what’, “No more camping trips. I want to spend my holidays at home,” he told her and then it all went black.
