I'm to the part of my renovations in the bathroom where I get to rip things apart and demolish stuff. There's something inherently satisfying about breaking apart old, ugly fixtures and cabinets (sinks, cabinets, etc) and tearing old tiles and wallboard off the walls. I'm also getting ready to start ripping up the linoleum and laying things out for the new floor and walls.
I end up tired and ready for a shower, but I also have a huge sense of satisfaction. This project is the most work I've done on something in the house, and it's already obvious that it's going to be amazing when it's done. When I removed the suspended ceilng, that alone opened up the bathroom so much. When I get the new sink in there it's going to look a thousand times better. Add in the new floor, walls, toilet, and refinishing the tub and tiling around the tub area, it's going to be completely different. Very happy.
Getting music together and deciding what equipment I'm bringing with me to the Cantab on Wednesday. It's going to be really sweet to be DJing at a weekly reading, especially at the Cantab. I'm looking forward to using the Bose L1 system out for the first time, and seeing how it works for poets. Everything I've read about acoustic musicians and the like say it's great for them, I'm betting it can be amazing for poets.
Whee!
