So I booked my hotel for Nationals today. Very nice people, got it all booked - coming in on the 6th because I'm playing at the opening party, leaving on Sunday the 12th.
Last year, I got a room under the second rate (about 20 bucks higher a night?) because they'd run out of the first block of rooms they'd reserved at the original rate.
Today, they told me I would have to pay standard rate for the 11th (ie: finals night) because they had run out of rooms under their reserved rate. All my other nights are at the group rate.
Who do I need to whine to about getting a room for Saturday that's not double the price of the other nights? The reservations agent said that it's likely between now and then that someone will cancel and I can get the original rate, but I'm pretty sure it's not automatic. I also have the Hyatt Gold passport now (started that last year) and they're always nice to me about things, so who knows.
But I'm not the only one who hasn't made reservations yet. Sounds like a lot of people are getting a hotel room just for the one night if that's the only night where they've already run out of the group rate.
Someone might want to fix that and such, I'm sure there are people who still haven't made reservations yet. Meh. :)
