I took a walk down
Green Lanes, North London (not the entire length that would take all day but a good 1.5 miles of it). I've really only ever been through it on a night bus but always fascinated by the array of shops and its Turkish community feel. London still surprises me - this area probably won't get a mention in a guide book but its got such variety - hope these photos do it justice.

Wikipedia.
And North London is full of surprising little gems, just off Green Lanes - a busy main road and the railway line is this:
