4,021 words today. I'm still 3,000 behind where I should be at the start of Chapter 7, because of the short chapters in the beginning before I calculated everything out, but setting word goals per chapter was definitely a good thing, because it makes me draw out these insipid conversations the stupid college kids have even longer than I normally would and then add backstory on top of it for all no people who would actually read this book without having seen every episode of the show first.

I'm sleeping a lot, a sign of stress and depression. I have no real way of knowing how book 3 is doing until Sourcebooks releases their sales records in April, but the Amazon number is not as high as the previous two books, even though book 3 is propping up book 1. Also reviews have been mixed, something I expected, but don't necessarily enjoy. It's a book people love or hate, and I'm not fond of reviews where people hate it. No, I shouldn't take it personally. Yes, it will ruin my day. No, I shouldn't let it do that, but writers are obsessive about their work and nothing's going to change that. There's a whole bunch of reviews coming up as most of them wait for the real publication date of February 1st, so I'm more than a little nervous.

Fallout 3 is a great way to relax, until you realize it's 3 am.
