Snowflake Challenge - Day 3
In your own space, put some favorite characters into an AU, fuse some favorite canons together, talk about your favorite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren’t your cup of tea. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I only write in the Supernatural fandom and I’ve never written an AU in the context of what I interpret an AU to be (eg: J2 or Sam and Dean work in a coffee shop, are astronauts etc).
I’ve never written a fic where Sam and Dean aren’t hunters, however I often like to fuse that theme with other concepts.
In that respect, I wrote a story where Sam and Dean were transported via an enchanted book to a magical land called Impalia, so I guess that could loosely qualify as an AU. They embark on a classic fairytale quest to rescue a princess. Dean becomes a noble (ish) knight and his Baby is a magnificent black mare who makes damn sure he knows his place. Sam is his lordship’s loyal and mostly exasperated squire. As they traverse the dark and forbidding Wildwoods, accompanied by their fairy godfather, Bobby as you’ve never seen him before, they encounter established fairytale characters such as a troll under a bridge, and a giant, plus a few extras such as a kelpie, dryads and swamp goblins. There’s a beanstalk involved and lots of apples!
It’s one of the more ambitious stories I’ve written and I’ve always been rather fond of it!
