Today was a bad day for missing Dave. Everything reminds me of him. It's odd, though. I don't miss him the same way I missed him before. Then, it was an sharp urgent throbbing pain. Now, it's like a steady dull heaviness.
I had my EMT class today, which was fun, like always. I was really tired, stayed up too late last night, I suppose.
Someone looked at my binder today, which has pictures of friends and I on it, and said, "Is that you?" He said I don't look the same in the pictures. Sure, my hair is short and undone. My makeup is nonexistent and I have bags under my eyes... but, I think I look for the most part the same.
I'm carpooling now with a couple of guys who also live in Dublin. It's funny because when I mention them to Dave, he sounds a little jealous. But... let me tell you about my trip home today.
First, it took an hour and 15 minutes to get home, because there was a ton of traffic and Rob had to do some chores, including putting more air in his 3/4 deflatted tire. His "Beater" is seriously a piece of shit and I'm surprised we didn't break down. It was making some pretty weird noises. (Made me miss Dave's truck so much).
Anyway, so he's on the phone talking to his buddies about how he's going to make a duck tape shirt to go watch Lord of the Rings and they all need to put duck tape on their clothes, too.
I had to do everything I could to not just start busting up laughing. I was just remembering one night after a movie where Dave and I just stood back in a corner to watch all the Lord of the Ring people coming out of the theater and how we laughed at them (nicely). For the most part, they had a certain look to them. When I looked at Rob, I thought to myself, "I should have known."
And, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing, and Rob isn't bad looking. It's just a certain look.
Anyway... the things that were reminding of Dave and driving me crazy and giving me tacycardia... Every Chevy Truck, Frankie's, talking about the clavicle, the whole Lord of the Rings thing, Jack in the Box, Subway, Rob's car breaking down because I knew Dave would know what to do, talking about Richmond, and things people were talking about doing this weekend, I just kept thinking, "Dave and I would have so much fun doing that."
Oh, and a big one. Someone was describing this dish they have at the Rain Forest Cafe, and when I heard about it, I just thought how much that would be Dave and my kind of thing.... Jumbo shirmp cut open and stuffed with crab, then wrapped in bacon. Everyone was talking about that at like 8:30am... I was SOOO hungry by the time lunch came.
... I miss my Dave, my angel.
