I am officially cracked.
So, I run a Star Trek LJ based role play community, starbase668, some of you who've been reading for a while will probably remember my previous attempts to recruit people to play. I kinda suck at the recruitment thing, but allah_sulu has directly and indirectly breathed much life into the community. He's kinda indirectly responsible for a couple of the people who've just signed up, and one of them has kinda started us on some crazy bar fight and drinking exploits.
Well, it started off with humans singing Andorian drinking songs really really badly. A bar fight broke out with the oaf of local fame and terror named Tumor. From there we progressed to my secondary character hitting on the Andorian, Therav, in a very high schoolish way by sending in my primary character, Diziara, in to test the waters. Well, less sending her in and more she volunteered for the job to torment him. When the water testing left the poor kid without a sex partner for the night, Diziara took up drinking with Therav and the very odd Vulcan Diziara had encountered on previous occasions (all v. confusing occasions), Storvik (of the "evil" flavor).
Things started getting really weird when Therav did a fabulous job of being straight man, missing references and getting flumoxed over comments Diziara made. Comments are exchanged about the abuse the drinking songs are going through at the vocal chords of the humans attempting to sing them. We get a comment about Vulcan drinking songs out of Storvik, and Diziara and Therav speculate what would constitute a Vulcan drinking song. Therav suggests a meditation song, Diziara suggests this could be turned into a drinking song with a horrible novelty item from earth of the 20th century, those drinking hats with the straws for hands free drinking.
So, the thing which cracked me and just lead to me laughing for entirely too long? Yeah, Storvik had some of these horrible things replicated and beamed in, custom sized for each of our characters. I may actually be obligated to seek vengeance or edit/create a picture of Dizi wearing one of the hideous things, possibly both.
