Wow, been so long since I've been here...

So yeah, I went years without posting here and almost that long without making a pad, hand sewn or otherwise. I've just been using Lunapads and the homemade pads I have and they're wearing quite well. I've gotten back into sewing recently, non-pad items that is, and I remembered I had a bunch of new flannel lying in a drawer just begging to be made ( Read more... )

What a stack! And all so neat and even. *admires*

Do you blanket-stitch the cores by hand?

:) Thank you. I may be chaotic and messy elsewhere, but my pads from start to finish are always tidy. XD

And yes, I do hand sew the core. I do a simple running stitch through all the layers a little ways in from the edge then I blanket stitch the edge all around. Keeps things together while I sew and so far it keeps things together during use and washing.

Wow, that's a lot of pads, and so neat, too! It got quiet for a while, but I'm glad folks still come here to post pictures of the pads they make!

Wow! Those are really well-made! What are you going to do with so many (if you finish the 90)?

Thank you very much. :)

As for the 90? I've no idea. I'm definitely only going to make as many as I need, the other tops I cut will keep. Was thinking kinda maybe some time in the future I could get a higher quality core and sell them on etsy. Who knows! I certainly don't right now.

They certainly look good enough to sell on etsy. You could also donate them. There was a post recently on cloth_pads about an organization that accepts cloth pad donations.

Is it your own pattern or one off the net?
I love all the colours!

Colors are fun. :D

And yes, my own pattern. It was originally for a hand sewn pad, no turning or anything. I went into a paint program and figured out how many pixels for inches and made a simple rectangle that was ten inches long and two and half inches wide and rounded off the ends and added the wings. I added a half inch all the way around when I progressed to making a turned and top stitched pad. :)
