(no subject)
Posting in the first time in forever, and it's because I saw BRAND NEW last night.
Jessica and I got to the venue around 3 and were about 15th in line. Doors were supposed to open at 6 so at 5 I walked to this grocery store to use their bathroom and when I came back I saw that people were standing up and the line was moving...I started freaking out and running to the front yelling for Jessica but she had already gone in. I cut in line with these girls who had been in front of us but had been towards the back signing people up for the street team when the line started moving. Thankfully they had just lined people up in front of the door inside so I caught up with Jessica. IT WAS SO SCARY. For real. We met up with Genny, a long time myspace friend of mine that I randomly met in the Brand New chatroom that used to exist.
We got pretty good spots, we were on the very side of the stage but against the barricade so that was okay. This guy with a photo pass came and sat in the photo pit and I noticed he had a poster hanging out of his backpack (FYI - They have these ~*super limited*~ posters at every show and they'll only sell like 15 a night, so there's no way to have a good spot and get a poster. UNLESS!-) I made a remark to Jessica about how I wanted a poster but that this spot was more important to me. The guy looked up and was all "I'll get one for you." We were in shock! I was like "Seriously? You would do that?!" So me Jessica and Genny all gave him money and he got them for us. So cool. We thanked him like a jillion times. Turns out he works for AbsolutePunk and is going to have a show review with photos up sometime today.
Oh, and he informed us that the opening band, The Builders and The Butchers canceled so we were super excited, thinking that Brand New would play a super long set. But the show started at 7:30 instead of 7...
Thrice was alright. They played a pretty cool cover of Helter Skelter that I enjoyed.
I could not enjoy Brand New as much as I wanted to because there was this really overly intrusive security guard in front of us the whole time. The other two were laid back and would just stand against the barricade (unless there were crowd surfers) but this guy was literally right in front of our faces the entire time...so annoying. That guy really did not want anyone taking videos...
And behind us were two girls who would not SHUT THE HELL UP. They seemed like legit fans, knew the words to all the songs and stuff, so I really cannot understand why they would come to a Brand New show just to carry on a totally unrelated and very loud conversation the whole time. And during the quiet part in Luca...WOW. I wanted to punch somebody.
Brand New was kind of low-energy (as usual?). I have higher hopes for the Halloween show though.

Genny got the setlist from the stage which included Sink right before At the Bottom. Kind of upset that that didn't happen. They came on at 9 and only played til like 10:20...not sure what was going on with them. Whateva.
Got yet another shirt, then we all got McNuggets.
I am in Aransas again. Tomorrow Jessica is coming here, and we are going to see Rocky Horror at the Harbor Playhouse. Then Saturday Brand New is in Houston. Cool.
