Even with all the lights, the tinsel, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the Foyer, the Hinata Inn seemed particularly gloomy.
Without tenants in the various apartments the majority of the Inn was dark and depressing in the chill of the winter season.
Beastboy was outside now, despite the darkness and the cold shoveling snow from the walk. He was restless but even crime seemed too be quieting down this close to the holidays. He hadn't stumbled across a fight needing breaking up or an attempted robbery in weeks.
Isha was out for the night, apparently she was invited to a holiday party by some old friends which left Beastboy alone with his thoughts.
He had barely done any shopping for Christmas which seemed even more depressing every time he passed the tree. Most of his friends he had shopped for in the past were gone. Now he only had a couple of acquaintances in the building, Isha, Duela and Kat.
And those thoughts inevitably led to him thinking about home, a home he may never see again. He had once told Terra he wouldn't mind if they never got back to Earth so long as he had her.
Well..fate had a way of coming back to bite you like that.
With a resigned sigh he continued his slow progress towards the walk, unaware that every shovelful of snow he chucked over his shoulder was just covering up the path he had just carved. He was making exactly no progress.
