The silence in Greg's office was almost deafening. Kazuma hadn't spoken again since they talked in Vent's office, even after they moved to the other one to wait for Watanuki, Nadeko and Kazma to show up. Greg had gone to check on Doumeki, but he could only handle it for a few seconds. Burns still freaked him out. It didn't matter how much time had passed since the lab explosion, they were probably always going to make him feel a little sick. There was no way he was going to take Kazuma to see something like that.
Doumeki was stable, but it was still unknown as to how well he was going to heal after all that.
Greg sighed faintly, watching Kazuma from across the room. The boy was huddled up in his bunny hood, hugging his just as quiet partner to his chest. Every so often he would sniffle or cough, but it was hard to tell if he'd stopped crying and started again, or if he was still in tears from earlier. Greg felt horrible for him. He knew he was one of those kids from a family made of pretty tough stuff, but just about anyone would break under those circumstances, especially after only being in a new world for a few weeks.
And there was nothing he could do, except hope that some how the newly-made family would some how come out of it.
