((ooc: The reception is where everyone can mingle, dance, eat, whathave you. Don't worry about posting order or anything here. Just go nuts!))

Music blared over the speakers in the ball room of the Hyperion, people mingling about, dancing and having a generally good time. The wedding had gone off without a hitch, and the newly weds were having a grand time, dancing with their children goofily in the middle of the dance floor. Needless to say, it was quite the party.

Riza was around the reception, having not actually gone to the wedding. Not because she didn't - she did, but as she felt she didn't know the couple well enough. She smiled a little at the dancing couple, mingling near the food. She herself was clad in a black sleeveless turtleneck, a white overshirt, dark navy below the knee skirt and 1-inch high heel boots. Sabine had loaned her the BITs, and she'd vowed to repay her when she had the funds to. Idly, she knew she should get a job, but...

She was enjoying the down time. It was needed, so much so. But that was the last thing on her mind right now. It was time for the festives, and the well wishes for the couple. They really did make a nice couple, she thought as she nibbled on something that vaguely reminded her of Amestrian cooking.

Roy had ducked out for a while to change out of his uniform in to something a little more comfortable (basically black slacks, a nice jacket and a pale blue button down shirt), returning a few moments after the reception had started feeling much less stuffy. Not that he minded looking respectable for Sabine, it was her day after all, but damn if that uniform didn't bother him after going so long without wearing it.

He spotted Riza off to the side rather quickly, moving over and nonchalantly starting to fill up a plate rather than starting off with an obvious greeting.

And yet another difference noted it seemed. She really was going to take the man out shopping and get him some better clothes. Honestly, he was Roy. Surly his foster mother would have taught him better dress fashion than that? Not that she knew much about that part of his life, only that he had a foster family, It was something that she'd overheard once back when her father was still alive. But for now, she simply let it slide.

"How did it go?" She knew he'd gone, but not in what role.

"I'm sure if you look at the happy newly weds on the dance floor, you can figure that out," Roy chuckled, glancing over his shoulder as Greg spun his son around.

"How true." She deftly stole something off his plate with an innocent look. "They look good together."

And she proceeded to nibble on her stolen food treat.

Naturally, Roy didn't complain when his food was snatched. It wasn't like he couldn't get more.

"They do. It's nice to see that good things can happen to good people here, even as difficult as it may get sometimes."

"True." She smiled softly, watching them dance. It was nice. Though she didn't know them well, she could tell they deserved this.

Roy lapsed in to silence, watching them dance as well for the next several minutes that passed. Eventually he looked back at Riza, putting his plate down and offering her a hand.

"Would you like to dance?"

Riza blinked, then blinked some more, before nodding, a small blush staining her face. She couldn't help it. She knew she was attracted to him, but this was not the Roy she knew, or so she told herself.

He still looked mostly the same. Maybe that was it. "I'm hardly good at it, but if you wish."

"I don't mind," Roy insisted, "It's not as if anyone here is going to judge you for being a bad dancer."

"Alright." She took his hand, feeling more than a little self conscious about this all. "Will you lead?"

Because if she led, someone was going to have a bruised foot or so.

"Of course."

Roy led her out on to the dance floor, to a spot just out of the center area where they wouldn't be as noticeable as some of the other couples. He turned to her, placing a hand just above her hip and holding her other hand with his. It looked like the white haired girl that Greg had often referred to as a little sister was up on the stage singing for this one, a soft and gentle song that was easy enough to dance to without needing to know it.

Riza smiled a little as she was led out, grateful that the scaring from the attack not long before she'd been freed was up higher. She really didn't need him asking about it; Recalling how she's gotten it was a painful memory.

Riza found that she enjoyed the song, and it was easy enough to dance to - her free hand on his shoulder, and before she knew it, her head was resting against it as well. She knew she shouldn't - Logically, she was projecting onto him. Emotionally she wanted the comfort.

Roy didn't seem to mind the closeness at all. He enjoyed sharing that moment with her, the soft voice from the music seeming to fade in to an ethereal background song.

These were the things they never got to do back home. Even if she wasn't the same as his, it still felt like they were both making up for lost time and missed opportunities. All those military balls where she would stand on the sidelines while he danced with other women, wishing for just one that shared the same unspoken connection they did.

Riza had always felt like a wall flower at those types of things, but she's always, always endured them with a stoic resolve. And sometimes she did get a dance, but it was only rarely.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, Riza didn't know, and she didn't care right now. This felt right, nice, Warm. Safe. And he was a good dancer, and the music was nice. Even if his fashion sense needed work, she could deal with that. She was strong - and rarely allowed her emotions riegn.

Most of the time.
