And the lives we live are only golden plated. )
Music blared over the speakers in the ball room of the Hyperion, people mingling about, dancing and having a generally good time. The wedding had gone off without a hitch, and the newly weds were having a grand time, dancing with their children goofily in the middle of the dance floor. Needless to say, it was quite the party.

She was enjoying the down time. It was needed, so much so. But that was the last thing on her mind right now. It was time for the festives, and the well wishes for the couple. They really did make a nice couple, she thought as she nibbled on something that vaguely reminded her of Amestrian cooking.

He spotted Riza off to the side rather quickly, moving over and nonchalantly starting to fill up a plate rather than starting off with an obvious greeting.

"How did it go?" She knew he'd gone, but not in what role.

And she proceeded to nibble on her stolen food treat.

"They do. It's nice to see that good things can happen to good people here, even as difficult as it may get sometimes."

He still looked mostly the same. Maybe that was it. "I'm hardly good at it, but if you wish."

Because if she led, someone was going to have a bruised foot or so.

Roy led her out on to the dance floor, to a spot just out of the center area where they wouldn't be as noticeable as some of the other couples. He turned to her, placing a hand just above her hip and holding her other hand with his. It looked like the white haired girl that Greg had often referred to as a little sister was up on the stage singing for this one, a soft and gentle song that was easy enough to dance to without needing to know it.

Riza found that she enjoyed the song, and it was easy enough to dance to - her free hand on his shoulder, and before she knew it, her head was resting against it as well. She knew she shouldn't - Logically, she was projecting onto him. Emotionally she wanted the comfort.

These were the things they never got to do back home. Even if she wasn't the same as his, it still felt like they were both making up for lost time and missed opportunities. All those military balls where she would stand on the sidelines while he danced with other women, wishing for just one that shared the same unspoken connection they did.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, Riza didn't know, and she didn't care right now. This felt right, nice, Warm. Safe. And he was a good dancer, and the music was nice. Even if his fashion sense needed work, she could deal with that. She was strong - and rarely allowed her emotions riegn.
Most of the time.
