[Air Battle]

In the sky, the coalition's forces were at a distinct disadvantage. They were facing an entire army full of Digimon who knew the sky better than any other. Still, for those fighting, this did not daunt them.

Least of all, did it do so to the vessel acting as the coalition's flagship in this ordeal - the Halberd.

Standing on the deck of the ship, arms crossed and paying little mind to the carnage already erupting in the air, was Simon the Digger and his partner, Lagann. Currently, Lagann was in his Digmon form.

For the moment, he was waiting and biding his time. He'd throw his hand into this soon, but... he knew how he wanted this to roll. And he'd bide his time for a moment.

[ooc - This will be a thread focusing on core parts of the air battle. It could or may split off into other threads, we'll just have to see how it rolls and who all's in on it.

If you want to participate in the air battle, but have a thread more focused on just a couple characters... feel free to make your own. ^_^ This is just where big movements in it might take place.]

Starscream was already high above the ship, in the thick of battle, firing his cannons and swinging his sword at multiple targets. Swindle hovered nearby as Holsmon, doing much the same.

Suddenly, a steel-blue blurr surged past Starscream, metal clipping into his side. The Decepticon let out a cry of pain as he plunged from the air, temporarily stunned, hitting the deck with a loud crash.

Swindle cried out to his partner, when suddenly, he was hit by a surge of machinegun fire, knocking him down to the deck as well.

The source? Four large, metallic birds, with weapons built into their bodies and with tails that ended in three pronged claws.

Analysis of them with a D-Comm? Would wield no results.

But they let out a loud screech and dove down, attempting to rock the Halberd with a barrage of fire from the guns hidden in their beaks.

"DRILL MISSILES!"

From the deck of the Halberd, one Digimon stood to protect his home - Mazinmon, launching a hail of missiles at his opponents. However, there was something wrong with him: Mazinmon was his Perfect form. Why did he evolve straight to this from Hagurumon? Did something go wrong when he was reborn?

He shoved those questions out of his mind as he moved to cover himself from the attacks.

"Geh... what the heck ARE these things?! I've never seen 'em before!" Mazinmon shouted

Of course, there was a great deal more going on near and around the Halberd, and beyond. Trying her best to keep tabs on all of that while still in the thick of fighting was Takamachi Nanoha, with Qilinmon. Moments before, they had been a considerable distance away from the Halberd... but that distance was cleared in no time, a thunderous clap accompanying them as they passed by the ship.

Of course, the REASON they were traveling so fast would be the assortment of Birdramon and Sabirdramon bearing down on them. The Blaster Bits floating around the mage were trained on them, firing rapid burts to clip the wings of a few at a time as she and her partner outraced them.

"Brainiac Five!" Nanoha shouted, bringing a hand up to the communications device in her ear as she saw the metallic birds now assaulting those near the Halberd. "What are those things?! I haven't seen a Digimon like that before!"

Aboard the Halberd's bridge itself, making sure not to be anywhere that would interfere with the piloting or general activity there, was Brainiac Five and Solarmon. The Legionaire had set up for himself a makeshift work station, using both the Halberd's equipment and his own taken from DATS Neon to monitor the battle.

Tapping his D-Comm as he looked out the ship's window, he shook his head. "I'm pulling up nothing, Commander. Much like the black Leomon-type Digimon back at the gun base, we've got no information on just what we're dealing with here..."

He furrowed his brow. "He had the technology and knowledge from somewhere to try and duplicate a Zero Arms. With these Digimon originating from Tetha, there's a good chance that maybe there's a connection, but... that's just speculation for now."

"Keh! Doesn't matter what they are!" Simon shouted over the sounds of battle and the wind beating against him as he and Lagann strode up the deck towards Mazinmon. "We'll knock 'em right out of the sky!"

"RIGHT!" Lagann shouted, and armed his drills. "GOLD RUSH!" he roared, launching rocket propelled drills straight up towards the newfound enemies.

[ooc - As a note, feel free to play fast and loose with the posting order in this one here - don't worry about posting orders just yet, just go and get your licks in wherever you can. :) ]

"Simon!" came Nia's voice as she and Death-XDorugamon came running up onto the deck.

She didn't say anything, just looked at her partner. The undead dragon nodded and spread his wings, flying up alongside Digmon. He opened his mouth, joining the attack with a volley of metallic cannonballs.

Hoshi had another plan to get into Tetha sans the light posts. She had a feeling that once she was going to there, she'd be up for a hell of a fight. So, what did she do?

Fly through the light posts to where D'Ango Forest was. Once she was there, she then had a cloak over her head. Then, she decided to cling to the bottom of the floating landmass, like she did before with her fights against Bowser and his minions.

When it was ideal, she grunted as quietly as she could before flying up. As nice as it was to have a second to recover, the next one wasn't so nice as various flying digimon came up to swarm her.

Not today, she said before her furyoku AND digisoul charged itself to the tip of her finger. Then, with an illustrious light shining, she took in a breath and fired.

"BRIGHT BANG!"

Of course, to join her was Angewomon who was already working on A) watching Hoshi's back for her, and B) fighting off the digimon as well. She fought with various white holy arrows.

Have to get to Hinata Inn to help Ryuunosuke and his friends, Hoshi thought to herself while she participated in the fight herself.

Not too far behind Nia are Kittan and SuperStarmon, both of whom run past and don't slow down as they charged towards the edge of the deck.

"Let's give 'em a fight they'll never forget! We'll show 'em that messing with us is the last mistake they'll ever make!"

Kittan and SuperStarmon both came to a stop near the edge of the deck. With barely a pause, SuperStarmon raised his hands, "Haley Squall!" After a moment, several large meteors streaked through the air towards the flying Digimon.

The multitude of barrages surged at the strange, armored bird digimon, who dodged through the air with enormous speed and agility. As they evaded one round of attacks, they emptied their machine gun cannons into the rest, canceling them out.

That wasn't the end of it, however. They swooped lower, firing a barrage of missiles from their wings... missiles that screamed down and rocked the deck of the Halberd as the lot of them then surged upwards, attempting to distance themselves from the ship.

By this time, Starscream had recovered, as had Swindle. The Cybertronian grabbed a hold of the phantom beast's metallic wing as the Holsmon pulled them to safety, high above the deck...

... and coincidentally, right next to Nanoha.

"... Hn," was all the Decepticon managed to grunt, upon seeing this.

"AUGH!" Mazinmon shouted, forced into a defensive position as the machine gun fire and missiles slammed down around him. "Dammit! You're not getting away this easy!"

The Digimon leaned back before a voice called out. "NOT WITHOUT ME! Open 'er up!" The pilot block opened up, allowing Kouji to hop in. "I'm not missing this fight! Hit 'em with all you got!"

"You got it, boss!" Mazinmon shouted.

"BURESTO FIYAAAAAAAAAH!"
"BREAST FIIIIIIIIIIIRE!

Granted, she wasn't the fasts of the group. It didn't mean that Will wasn't going to keep up, no matter what. Her home was in danger, her friends were in danger. She wasn't going to lose them. Not now.

Watching the light show, she figured she reached the right spot.

"I'm gonna drop you off here, Otamamon." Will said to her partner.

"Be careful!" she replied as Will released her partner, it evolving into Andromon and landing on the Halberd. With her arms free, Will focused on attacking the new Digimon, unleashing Quintessence upon them.

"WATCH YOURSELF!" Nanoha cried at Starscream, as she and Qilinmon both whizzed past him... the Sabirdramon and Birdramon flock hot on their heels.

Stopping solidly in mid-air, both spun around. Nanoha brought Raising Heart up, her Blaster Bits arming around her as she loaded a cartridge and locked on. "BLASTER THREE...!"

"KAISHIN NO HADOU!"



"DIVINE BUSTER!"



Pink and golden energy surged out, cutting through the Adult Digimon's attacks and then into and THROUGH their flock.

"Huh..."

Simon mused as he looked up at the barrage of missiles falling down towards them.

"...HEH."

As Nia and DeathXDORUgamon came out, Simon suddenly grabbed the woman by the hand. A massive, shit eating grin on his face, he began to run, leading her...

...to the edge of the ship. "Alright, come on!"

This was what he shouted before he leaped over the side of the ship, taking Nia with him.

Lagann blinked.

He looked at the missiles.

Then he looked after Simon.

"...WHAT THE HELL!?" he shouted, running after them and diving after. He had wings. He had some LIMITED flight capability.

They? DID NOT.
