Lina didn't know what that smell was.

Frankly, she really didn't WANT to know.

Nor did she want to know what the water her boots were sunk in consisted of. Mainly? Since it seemed to be the primary source of the stench.

She looked up at the ruins before them, then down at the map, cursing mildly. "Oh. I swear. Doesn't matter WHAT I find in here, I'm totally going to wring Wizardmon's neck for even SENDING ME HERE," she muttered.

Dracomon stared at the ruins, aghast. "He sent you to a fragile, nearly ready to fall apart structure which we'll have to venture into... and probably the slightest explosion would send it toppling down on our heads..."

He wept. "OH, YGGDRASIL. I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE."

"This reminds me of something," Gourry mused behind Lina, looking up at the ruins and pointedly NOT paying attention to what he was standing in.

"What, the results of your latest dinner binge?" Kotemon groaned. He was feeling sick. "Dracomon, we should leave this to them..."

"No you don't," Gourry said, grabbing Kotemon by the shoulder as he looked at Lina. "I don't think it matters, though, we're here now. We can maim Wizardmon when we get back. Anyway, same plan as always? Send me in first?"

Zelgadis didn't seem bothered by the smell. Unless you counted keeping his nose and mouth covered. "Do you think there could be traps in there? If we trigger a collapse, that could destroy the contents."

"I don't think we need a trap to do that," Gotsumon said. "I think breathing could do that. Not that I wanna breathe right now." He stepped forward, nearly losing his balance. "Can't we leave yet?"

"I thought you liked exploring?" Zelgadis asked.

"Not in neck-deep putrid muck! At least you're tall."

There was a flash of light and a splash and horrified, "EEEW!" coming from Filia as she raised her skirt. "Oh no, my clothing is ruined!"

"My Queen, please, ride on my back!" exclaimed Ryuudamon. "You can't possibly allow yourself to tromp through the muck!"

"Oooogh, I would but Ryuudamon you're too small to carry me. I do appreciate the offer though."

"As you wish My Queen," nodded Ryuudamon.

BlackKingNumemon let out a pained bellow as he was struck by the freezing blasts, but the rock ended up oozing into and being absorbed by his toxic frame.

"I've had enough of your rudeness!" he roared, flexing his liquid body and shattering the ice that had formed. "DARK PUPIL!"

Black beams of energy shot forth from his eyes, and he directed them in all directions, sweeping the beams through the ruin.

Lina, really, hadn't paid much attention to the attacks, still sort of latched onto Gourry. "Oh, WHY DO I NEVER HAVE ANY SALT WHEN I NEED IT?!"

"UM." Dracomon's eyes widened at the forthcoming energy beams. "Deathbringer! We have a prob-"

One beam struck high above them, and rubble came tumbling down towards them.

Two forms suddenly appeared before them, artificial Digi-Soul exploding up and around them, pushing the rubble out of the way and knocking it harmlessly to the side.

"Ah, Miss Lina~" Xellos said, sounding entirely too amused. "Isn't this sort of careless-"

Finally, Lina found something that overrode her fear.

Pure, blinding hatred.

Xellos' words were completely lost on her, as she looked down...

And lunged at the Wizarmon standing beside him, hands soon locked around the Digimon's neck. "YOU! WIZARDMON, YOU SON OF A BITCH!"
