"Didn't you listen to me at all, Daimon?!" shouted Gizmon, dangling Yoshino around as he swung his free arm about. "I said I wanted to keep on hurting you... I want to make you suffer!"
He cackled again. "And you're forgetting, I have resources you don't! I can kill anyone here today and be back home safely in less than a minute! But whatever! You had your chance to make a choice! Say goodbye to your girlfriend, Daimon Masaru!"
Katsuro, who had been forced to watch all of this from a distance away, couldn't help but charge onto the scene. Without the boy realizing it, an orange glow had surrounded his tiny, clenched fist... a digi-soul born from resolve.
"Leave her alone!" Katsuro shouted. "And my dad, and Yuka-neesan! I won't let you hurt any of them!"
A blue dragon with white wings flew out from behind Katsuro, moving with a swiftness that Kurata wasn't even ready for.
V-mon had no idea how it had happened... normally, Katsuro would need to give him his Digi-Soul to have him evolve. But this time... this time, it had happened in a surge of resolve... with the boy's raw emotion.
And XV-mon knew he had to protect Katsuro, and his family.
"HEARTY SHATTER!"
He drew his fist back, and punched out with a fist driven by the dragon's own muscles and forward momentum, driving it straight into the round eye on the Gizmon-like half of Kurata's face.
Kurata screamed in pain and recoiled backwards, releasing Lilamon and dropping Yoshino in the process. He brought up a hand to his face, grabbing at his damaged eye.
"What... what have you done to me?!" Kurata shrieked, energy sparking from the cracked lens. "There's no way a mere Adult digimon could have me!"
"One can and did!" shouted XV-mon, swooping down and catching Yoshino. "Maybe your 'greatest creation' has a weak point you never even thought about!"
He hung in the air for a moment, before placing a stunned Yoshino down to Masaru.
"And now... its your own Achilles heel!"
Kurata balked... and then screamed in anger, as he felt his entire body freezing up.
Masaru gave a small laugh, placing a hand on his hip and pointing at the Bio Hybrid.
"And then there's your last mistake, Kurata!" Masaru said. He was grinning, and seemed altogether... unsurprised by the turn of events. "Did you honestly, really think that any man with a Daimon's blood running through his veins would just stand by and let someone like you do whatever the hell he wants?!"
RizeGreymon blinked. Hard. "Aniki, you..."
Masaru's smirk didn't relent, only growing wider by the moment. He clenched his outstretched hand. "Next time anyone like Touma tells me I can't plan ahead, I'm gonna remember this one," he said, and then swung his fist out. "ALL RIGHT EVERYONE, TEAR INTO 'IM!"
RizeGreymon, really, was not one to argue with a clear advantage when he had it. Planting his feet firmly into the ground, his jets igniting to cancel out the recoil as he took aim and fired off three shots, and he screamed, "TRIDENT REVOLVER!"
The multiple attacks exploded - quite literally - in Kurata's face, blasting him back by the impact. The explosion created a crater where he once stood, along with a rising cloud of smoke and debris...
From which Kurata emerged, most of his armor torn away and his body smoking. It revealed what appeared to be the inner workings of a Gizmon - a bizzare mismask of biological and technological traits.
"This... this isn't over," said Kurata, realizing a round device in his hands. "Space Time... Oscillation... Jumper... ACTIVATE!"
Masaru clenched his hands tightly, staring long and hard at the spot Kurata had vanished from. So close... They were always so CLOSE, and yet...
...
He ran a hand through his hair, sighing, and turning to see Yoshino hugging Katsuro. Despite how he felt, Kurata so fresh in his mind, the sight brought a genuine smile to his face. "...yeah, like I said before... blood is blood, and nothing changes that," he said, walking over to them, before giving Katsuro a thumb's up. "...you did good, kid."
Yuka smiled as Devidramon landed on the ground near them. The young girl jumped off her partner's back and looked over at Yoshino and Katsuro before hearing Masaru's comment.
"Blood isn't everything Masaru-niisan!" She shouted back, before moving closer to her future... whatever the word that their relationship was and placing a hand on Katsuro's shoulder. "I'm going to be here for you too!"
He cackled again. "And you're forgetting, I have resources you don't! I can kill anyone here today and be back home safely in less than a minute! But whatever! You had your chance to make a choice! Say goodbye to your girlfriend, Daimon Masaru!"

"Oh please," said the mutated scientist, "You have got to be joking...!"
What happened next, he never saw coming.

... Something from deep inside her made her smile.
"Kurata... as long as he's here, Masaru and I will protect this boy! Lilamon, attack!"
"I will protect those who are important to Yoshino!" shouted the fairy digimon. "Take this! MARVEL SHOT!"

Such a display, from the people who were so much like his parents.
He narrowed his eyes and nodded. "XV-mon!"
"At once!" shouted the digimon, the mark on his stomach glowing. "X-LASER!"

Devidramon nodded. "PSYCHO BLASTER!" he shouted, firing off the canon at Kurata.

Then, he realized where who was standing around him and suddenly felt very nervous.
"...Mom? ... Dad?"

"Yes... at least for now," she said, hugging him. "We're... we'll be your family, Katsuro-kun."

"Th-thank you, everybody..." he said, and grabbed Yoshino in a tight hug... before switching over and hugging Masaru's leg.
Yoshino... couldn't help but smile at that.
