tobywolf13 has been doing a bunch of "Five Things" recently. The idea got me thinking...
AU Librarian Series. PG. Character death. Mentions of Chloe/Oliver Queen and Chloe/Bruce Wayne.
1. When Mr. Lynch brought her into his office that day and explained what his real job was, Chloe panicked. She had left Smallville to get away from that life - to get away from being the constant nurturer and provider of information. She left to do something for herself. It was her time to be selfish for once. Chloe submitted her two week's notice. The next morning she went to Enrollment Services to look for other job opportunities on campus. Luckily, a teaching assistant for an introductory journalism class had been let go and she filled the spot. Chloe always avoided the third floor of the library after that.
2. The dagger had been sealed and ready. Bobby said he was sending a couple of his friends to pick it up. With midterms and everything else going on at once, it wasn't until days later that she realized they had not been by to pick up the artifact. When she checked her voicemail later that night, there was a message from Bobby saying that their plans had changed and he was sorry to inconvenience her. Chloe sent the package with Fed-Ex the next morning and went back to work.
3. They had tried everything they could. Chloe spent weeks in the stacks and traveling around, utilizing every single one of her contacts. Still, she came up with nothing. The night janitor had heard her sobbing late at night for weeks, but never said anything. Bobby had spent months doing everything he could. Sam was desperate to find a way to save his brother. There was nothing they could have done. The demon came to collect with barking hellhounds in tow. Dean Winchester never stood a chance. They found his body torn to shreds at a rest stop just outside of Santa Fe.
4. It was a shame, but Gabe had to cancel his daughter's visit. Things at work were not good and the expenses would have been fiscally irresponsible. He promised to come home for Christmas and stay until after the new year. Chloe seized the opportunity presented despite her disappointment that she would not be able to spend time with her father. With Dean and Sam underground, there was not much else she could do. She packed her desk and turned in her keys. It took a week to pack her apartment and the minute the U-Haul was loaded, she set out for Gotham. On her first night there, a man in a kevlar batsuit had saved her from a homicidal clown with an Uzi and Chloe was was fascinated...She always did have a thing for the hero types.
5. She had not meant to, but she did. She could not blame what had happened on amnesia. What had happened was the result of something that had been buried inside her. He had been off limits - her boss, her friend, her cousin's ex-boyfriend. But Oliver had been there, carrying her out of Lex's lab and nursing her back to health. He had put Queen Industries and the Justice League on the back burner as he helped her cope. In that time, Chloe Sullivan had fallen hopelessly in love with Oliver Queen and he loved her back.
Her memory never fully recovered. Though every so often when she was dreaming, she remembered the feel of riding in an old car with an armory in the trunk, Metallica blasting on the radio, and feeling safe and content.
