Today's lesson: Read the fine print

Feb 07, 2011 17:28

So, I totalled my car in December.  The auto insurance company went through their hoops and paid out their settlement based upon the information they gathered.  I was there asking questions through the entire process.  No worries I thought.  I had a GAP insurance policy on the car in question so I was rest assured that the difference of my lien would be covered.
Today I get a letter exaplining to me I was wrong.
Get this.... according to a fine print amendment in my GAP policy contract, they only pay the difference betwee the loan and NADA value of the aut in question... NOT the difference between the insuance settlement and the balance of the lien.
SERIOUSLY?!  What the FUCK is the point of paying for a GAP insurance policy that doesn't actually cover the damn GAP?!

And I've contacted all the insurance company and even the auto dealership that sold me the GAP policy when I bought the car and let them all know what a shitty insurance service that company provides.

I am certain nothing will come of this and I will end up paying the $812 difference... which sucks... but at least I did everything in my power to let everyone I know know what a HORRIBLE insurance company Auto Warranty Services Inc. is.... they are based out of Chicago IL.   I intend to spread the word about how crappy their coverage is.... and how. I'm heading to Facebook now.

insurance, sucktasticness, sucktastic people, wtf, life
