Welcome to my week
I once again have been inspired to try and make this first entry for today a little more interesting like fragbert .  I aspire to his level of amusement in his morning posts.
I have chosen the answer to tne universe and everything as my journal entry title because it feels like the only thing stable I can hang onto at the moment... which is really saying something right there.

Theater updates
This week is a busy week.  The USO show is this week on Thursday and Friday.  I only just finished my dress this past Saturday.  It needs alterations made (which I guess I'll do this evening or Wednesday night.) but all in all it wasn't too terrible a project.  I hope to have some decent pictures of the dress and perhaps me in the dress after the show this week.
I also have rehearsal for the Christmas show this evening.  That's the only night this week I'll be rehearsing that show and I'm kind of glad about that.  I just need to focus my energies on the show at hand and get that one done and out of the way first.
The "Andrews Sisters" piece we chose for this USO show is Rum and Coca Cola.  It was the simplest one we could pull off with only 7 days to get it locked in and honestly, I use the words "locked in" fairly loosely.  Thank goodness the other two ladies involved can fake harmony like pros.  I would be completely lost.  We have a rehearsal for that piece this evening at 8:30... since two of us are involved in the Christmas show and want to at least make an appearance at rehearsal.  Sheesh... what did I get myself into?
Other than that, Lee is getting his comedy sketches locked into place and everything appears to be in good shape.  I worked on the last few prop things needed for the comedy sketches this weekend with help from Lee and those will be ready to roll this evening.  I'm just kicking butt and taking names.
I really ought to approach Lee about being his "agent".  It seems I keep him running when he ends up involved in these things.  Although, to be fair I think the roles are reverable.  He kept me taken care of and going in J & H so....
Work and Concert
My elementary students have their music program tomorrow evening.  We've been working very hard on this patriotic program to honor our  country and Veteran's Day.  I am losing my cool a bit today and probably won't be too calm tomorrow either.  I just have a hard time impressing upon the kids that concerts are not  casual, everyday, do as you please events.  It's just a good thing for kids to learn early on.  Some events in life are kind of a big deal and need to be treated thusly.
My 5th graders, who narrate and sort of lead the whole show, sounded awful today and I had to be honest with them.  I told them I was not trying to be mean but was trying to be honest and give them guidance so they would sound better.  For once, it seemed like they actually understood what I was saying and trying to do.  So, here's to hoping my final rehearsal tomorrow goes swimmingly well.  I doubt it but I can wish right?
I'm just looking forward to this concert being done.  I just really want to get back to my normal teaching schedule.... weird as that may seem.
Jewelry
Nothing too exciting to report on this front.  I have a couple of repair jobs for a work colleague and have an order to ship out today from a former work colleague.  The things I have in my mind to work on.  I don't have time for just yet so... nothing new to show you just yet.
I am not going to be doing the KofC craft show in Dodge this season.  I did not get my registration in on time and there were no available spots left.  So, *shrugs*.  I will be doing a craft bazzar in Spearville on Dec. 11th in a the community center or parish center.... I can't remember which.  It is only costing me $5 for a 5 hour showing.  $1 an hour isn't too bad.  Even if I don't sell anything, the exposure at a new venue in a town that knows me for other reasons will be worth the $5.
Other projects
Lee and I gathered up the rest of the hardware and wood needed to finish building this barware storage unit we've been planning.  I stained the shelf pieces yesterday afternoon and should be able to start putting things together this weekend.  I also ordered some more martini glasses since it was discovered that one of my new angled crackle glass ones from Pier One has a chip in the rim.  Kind of ticked me off since that was the first time I have used those glasses since bringing them home after our Wichita trip.  I was even less happy when I discovered that Pier One's website does not allow you to order directly from them.... you literally have to go to a Pier One store to purchase anything from them.  I went to World Market's website and purchased martini glasses from them instead.  Stupid Pier One.
Other than that, I plan to get the unit put together on Saturday and perhaps have a cocktail hour late saturday evening for friends to break it in.  Lee wants to go through the drink file and find a new cocktail to audition as well.  It'll be nice.
Attitude of the moment
I am trying not to be a grouch but am keeping my fuse with my students short enough to get my points across quickly and with as little friction as possible.  I don't need to waste time repeating myself when some of these kids are old enough (and have had enough experience) to know how to behave and what to do.  I will not tolerate screw offs and smart mouths this week.  Not even a little.
At this point in the rehearsal process, there isn't a whole lot I can do to change things now.  For either show, this week will be whatever it decides to be.  I just have to be ready to fly by the seat of my pants and keep on my toes when I sing my own numbers.  Smile, nod and just keep swimming.
