So confused....

So... Lee and I went to the meeting/auditions for the Christmas variety show last night.  The local community theater company we are a part of decided to do a Christmas variety show this year instead of an actual Christmas show, since those are a little hard to come by (decent one anyways).  I went in thinking i had a couple of Christmas songs in mind and that everything would be fairly easy to figure out.  I was very enthusiastic about it.... till the meeting ended and I got down to looking at the ideas the director had typed out on his piece of paper.  About 40% of them were decent, family show, holiday season oriented ideas.  The rest were.... kind of out there.  And I'm just sitting here still this morning scratching my head going... HUH?
He wants some of us to do some Broadway belter songs, which I'm not opposed to doing and enjoy the hell out of but.... in a Christmas show?  And honestly, it's not that big a deal.  It's just that the ideas I had, while a couple of them still kind of work alright... the rest have to be sort of abandoned and replaced by something.... and with as many belter songs as I have under my belt, when forced to pick one.... and only one that will give me enough clout to stand out in the cast.... it's HARD.  So.... I'm feeling a little stressed out over it.  Which is silly and stupid because... it's a frickin' variety show.  It's supposed to be one of the easiest types of show to do... and I should know I've done alot of them.
Just.... plain.... UGH.
