And the moral of today's story...
... is don't FUCK with me.
So, I got home and called my mortgage company to find out how on EARTH there ended up being such a large shortage in my Escrow account. The lady broke it down for me.... my property taxes went up $20. My insurance has been hiked up.... TWICE. And with both those hikes it came to nearly $1000 more a year. Um...... NO. Kthxbai. Upon the urging of my mortgage company rep., I contacted my insurance company. My agent did not answer the phone. I left an angry sounding but clear message. Call me back about the premium hike or I am finding another insurance company. My agent's secretary called me back. I had a chat with her about what I needed etc. She was very kind and very helpful.... however, I think she told me something she really should not have. She said she figured my recent claim (my first and only claim in 5 years mind you) probably had little to do with the premium hike. She told me the company was trying to encourage people who have their Home Owner's insurance to switch their auto insurance to their company as well. Now, part of this I get.... but they are essentially FORCING people to switch their auto insurance by raising their home owner's premiums. SO. WRONG. Needless to say, I feel tomorrow I will be switching insurance companies.
