WELCOME TO MY LIFE

OK, so I answered an ad in the paper for a front desk help position. The manager called me today and asked if I could come in for an interview. I went to the very short, very easy and odd interview and he hired me on the spot. Well the thing is, the job pays $6/hr. and he says that if I stay longer and do well it could go as high as $8/hr. It's part-time. Well another thing is, one of the staffing agencies that I am with, they got me a temp-somewhat long term clerical position at a bank working full time for $11/hr. and I am told that this bank has many positions open and I could use this temp assignment as an opportunity to get a permanent position at the bank and continue to make WAY more than minimum wage basically. And apparently with my education background, I am worth more than minimum wage. So I told the manager about the temp assignment and that I couldn't get out of it because I already agreed to do it. I told him it was for a couple of weeks. He told me to give him a call after I finish the assignment and "we'll talk". "We'll talk"? I have no idea what that is suppose to mean. Anyway, my dad told me not to call back and accept the job because he says I wouldn't make that much money at $6/hr. and to find a job that pays more and if I do well at the bank I could probably be there permanently.

I feel like I blew off a job offer lol I didn't really, I accepted the offer but I can't start right away because I am under agreement to do this bank job for the next couple of weeks-I couldn't bail on that. I need to stay in good standing with the staffing agency because they are the ones who can get me a permanent job that pays well, and not $6/hr. So I don't know....and the manager told me that the front desk job is meant to be permanent-he doesn't want someone who is planning on leaving after a while. To tell you the truth I was planning on leaving once I get hired somewhere else that paid more especially if it's in television production-the REAL job that I want. So of course I am going to quit the front desk job if I do end up taking it (just to get some money in my pocket). But then it wouldn't be fair because I'd be wasting their time due to my intention to quit as soon as I get another job. I don't know. Maybe dad's right-maybe I shouldn't call them back after the bank assignment, and just keep looking for something that actually pays money that can pay the bills. The staffing agency is trying to find something permanent for me that pays well, and while they're doing that I am doing temp stuff for them, so I get some kind of income either way.

P.S. By the way, I took the initiative and hunted down every video production business in the area, emailed them my resume and asked for employment lol I wonder if that'll work. I got tired of waiting for openings and decided to ask them for employment instead. I also applied for an Assignment Editor job at my former internship at a tv station, i hope I'd at least get an interview, I mean I used to work at that place-it's the least they can do for me.
