Holiday Cheer

Oh, it’s Christmas. Hanukkah. Kwanzaa. Winter Solstice. Take your pick, it’s the end of the year, which brings many good things.

The first is the end of classes. My two economics classes are over, thankfully. Macroeconomics played to my strong points, with a big historical and social component to it. Microeconomcs, on the other hand, was a lot more tedious math, and the professor, while a nice guy, had a tendancy to ramble and stray off topic. In any event, it’s done until January. I have, perhaps foolishly, decided to up myself to three courses next semester. One’s a required course - US Financial Policy processes and procedures - but the other two are concentration courses which sounds quite intriguing - International Energy Policy and European Political and Economic Union. The EU’s a fascinating political structure that I’m looking forward to digging into some more.
Second, it brings holidays, which means calmer work days and parties galore. One friend and her roommates threw an ‘Eggroll and Eggnog’ party a couple weeks ago, and another’s having a christmas dinner this coming saturday (not quite christmas, but hey). Pair this with emergance from coursework and I’m able to be far more social. Too bad almost all my friends are skipping town this weekend. Ah well, time to work on the railroad.

Third, work itself is going well. We’ve finally gotten in some of the last pieces of hardware I’ve been waiting for, so I can get moving on finishing up our backup system and some other projects. We’re also finally starting to look at strategic planning, which gives me a chance to flex some analytical muscles. It’s almost like school!

I hope this post finds all my loyal readers well, and that whatever holiday you choose to celebrate this winter brings festive cheer.

And booze.
