[The crystal is angled up at Celes' furrowed brow and scowling lips, making her appear to be even taller and more menacing than she is in person. Its image bounces in time to the rapid clicking of her booted footfalls.]

If this is your idea of a joke, I am not amused! I at least had the common courtesy to warp with you and Gestahl instead of ( Read more... )

[She stares at the crystal face with a cool, aloof expression on her face.]

I apparently gave you more credit than you deserved. The others have informed me that you did not, in fact, warp me here.

So I am no longer angry at you regarding this incident.

If it pains you so to have me mad at you, I suggest you prepare yourself for a lifetime of hurt. I will never forgive you for enlisting my own men to spy on me, allowing me be locked up in a South Figaro basement and tortured for days, sentencing me to death, poisoning Doma's water supply, trying and nearly succeeding to turn my friends against me by claiming that I was a double-agent, killing the Espers, killing Leo, and trying to kill me multiple times...

...dear.

We agreed that our duties to the Empire would take priority, we were soldiers first, lovers second. I was simply doing my duty. I did not enjoy it, but the subtle hints you kept leaving were simply too much to turn a blind eye to.

With Doma, I saved countless Imperial lives by sparing them a lengthy and bloody siege. The Empire came first. The same with the Espers. They were a threat to the longevity of the Empire, as was Leo, and eventually even the Emperor himself.

It pained me to do what I did but I did it for the Empire. Claiming you were a double agent was to give you one last chance to return to me, Celes. Even then I held onto the delusion that we meant something at one time.

We could have brought the very cosmos themselves to their knees. Alas... it was not to be... but even you must admit that Terra served her role quite well... none of them suspected that it was actually her playing the double-agent, not you.

[Celes huffs and looks away, unable to believe that Kefka would air their past over a public transmission. Closing her eyes, she takes a few slow, deep, steady breaths to collect herself while Kefka continues to speak, sounding eerily like the serious but kindhearted, well-intentioned man that she once knew, admired, and loved.

She knows that she should simply cut off the transmission, but she can't bring herself to. Not after he said all that in that faux-rational tone for everyone to hear.

Against all better judgment, she speaks.]

Don't you dare try to play the noble hero now. I know for a fact that you were only spying on me because you thought I was...

Now, wherever did you get the idea that I thought you were cheating on me? I was more concerned with your political activities.

[Lie number one.]

As for Doma, it pained me to condemn our comrades in arms, but they were Imperial Soldiers, and to die in the name of the Empire was the highest honor I could have given them, regrettable as it was.

[Lie number two.]

The Espers were unbalanced and a threat to the safety of both the Empire and world at large. The by-product of the magicite having a beneficial potential to the Imperial people's lives was a happy coincidence.

[Lie number three.]I'll admit, I did find some satisfaction in besting Leo. He had long been attempting to take my place at the Emperor's side, openly sabotaging me with false accusations. The Emperor, however, was most lamentable. The prospect of harnessing the Triad's power was too much of a temptation for him. He would have been consumed by the power and would have brought an end to all life. I only wished to bring peace and order to the world, until your ( ... )

[Celes knows better than to believe any of these lies, but a far more horrible thought does occur to her - Kefka instantly, effortlessly, has reverted to what she classifies as his old self: calm and logical in the midst of even the most heated discussions, and concerned with working towards the greater good. Currently, he is using this front as a guise to hide his more sinister motives, but... what if it was always a guise? What if he secretly took delight in taking advantage of her naivety and manipulating her into doing unspeakable things for his amusement? What if the person she loved never even existed?

The thought sickens her.]

...This conversation is over.

[She cuts off the transmission.]

[Half a second after the transmission is cut, Kefka breaks into his trademark cackle, clutching at his sides.]

Oh my, this is indeed going to be FUN~!

[After a long bout of cackles, his expression darkens again, looking at the now inactive crystal.]

The ungrateful wench will rue the day she spurned me...
