A/N: Hi! Thanks for reading this little boy band adventure. I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am. Any suggestions will be gratefully received!
Chapter 3 continued again (Livejournal is giving me fits so I had to break this chapter into a third part)
Samatha broke the ensuing silence. “Okay, now that you’ve seen the house, here’s a thought. Why don’t you boys eat diner here tonight. Get acquainted without your managers looming over you. We can order you some sodas and pizza. When you’re done eating, we’ll have the car take you back to the hotel.”
“Sounds good,” said Christian.
“I’m always up for some ‘zza,” Aldis echoed.
Taboo added his agreement. “Me too.”
“That okay with you, Osric?” Jared asked. When Osric nodded his enthusiastic agreement, Jared said, “Our first unanimous decision.”
They all cheered.
Tahmoh’s laid back persona made a reappearance. “Good job, guys. So, Samantha and I are gonna head out.” He pulled a card from his pocket. “Here’s the number for the pizza place. Charge it to the company. They know the address, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
Samantha put one hand on Osric’s shoulder and her other on Taboo’s. “We’ll see you guys back here on or before May 1st. If you aren’t here by then, we’ll have to replace you with the runner up from the contest.”
“That’s right,” Tahmoh added. “And don’t forget to return your signed contract to the company. I recommend you have a lawyer look over it first. Know what you’re signing before you sign it.”
With those words of advice, their managers left.
After some discussion and friendly bickering, they decided to order three pizzas, one meat lovers, one vegetarian, and one pepperoni with extra cheese. Tahmoh was right, they had no trouble charging the order to Star Struck once they gave their address, and the pizza’s arrived twenty minutes later, piping hot and smelling delicious.
They settled at the table, everyone jockeying for a slice of their choice.
Around a mouthful of steaming pepperoni and cheese, Jared said, “I wonder when our families are gonna get to see the house. Didn’t Jeff say they would be invited over later?”
Aldis swallowed his own bite of pizza. “Yeah, but notice he didn’t say it would be today or tomorrow or anytime soon. Just like one of them big shot corporate execs. They talk in generalities so you can’t pin’em down on anything.”
Christian snorted, “I’m not worried about it. Not sure I want my demolition crew of a family in here anyway. I’ve got six younger siblings, and they could destroy this place in a matter of seconds.”
“Six! And they’re all here? I though the company would only pay for four family members to come,” said Taboo.
“There’re all here, including my parents. Steve donated his four slots so they could all come.”
“Steve…the guy you auditioned with?” Jared asked, still curious about that story.
“His family couldn’t make it, and…” Christian put down his slice of pizza in favor of his can of Coke, taking a swig. Someone else wanna take a turn? Jared, how about you? Who did you leave back at the hotel?”
Jared, embarrassed about being nosy, hastened to say, “I’ve got my parents, my older brother, his wife, and my younger sister here. They only live about an hour away, so they drove. I’m sure you’ll get to meet them at some point. I won’t be able to keep my little sister away. She’ll probably develop a crush on all y’all.”
“How old is she?” Aldis waggled his eyebrows.
“Shut it down, you horndog. She’s only fifteen.”
“Whoa, she’s way younger than you,” said Taboo. “What is that, a seven year difference?”
“She was a surprise,” Jared laughed. “My parents used to call her their surprise blessing.”
“Used to?” asked Osric.
“That was before she became a teenager.”
A round of “Oh’s,” made its way through the group.
“I know what you mean. When my little sis turned thirteen, she went from being this sweet little angel to being a holy terror overnight.” Aldis said.
“It gets better though, right. Please tell me they grow out of it,” Jared begged.
“Don’t know, man. I haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s my half sister. When her mom left my dad, she took Kesha with her. They moved around a bunch after that, and I lost track of her.”
Jeez, Jared was batting a thousand here. “Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories for you.”
“Nah, it’s fine. Might as well get this fucked up stuff out in the open from the beginning, ya know? Besides, it was a long time ago.”
“I have two older sisters.” Taboo blurted out. “They didn’t come, neither did my parents. I didn’t even tell them I entered this contest. I doubt they would have come even if I had. They think I’m a fucking screw up.”
Osric stood up and walked around the table. He came up behind Taboo, leaning in to rest his head on the other boy’s shoulder. “Well, you’ve got us now. And we don’t think you’re a screw up.”
Taboo rubbed the back of his hand roughly over his eyes. “Thanks, Osric.”
Jared cleared his throat. This was all getting too serious for a first dinner over pizza and soda. “How about a change of topic? What do you guys think about a name for our band? Any ideas?”
Christian tore his worried gaze away from Taboo and wiped his greasy fingers on a napkin. “I was thinking about that. Choosing a band name is one of the most important decisions we have to make. It shouldn’t be done in a rush. We have ten days before we need to be back here. Let’s each come up with a list of possible band names during that time. On May 1st, we’ll look at all the lists and chose the one name we like the best.”
Aldis nodded. “I like it.”
“All in favor?” asked Jared.
They all raised their hands.
“Motion carried.”
Jared hoped all their decisions would be as easily made. Somehow, he doubted it.
A/N: Next chapter we get Jensen back! I can’t wait! Thanks so much for your support. The more people who play along, the better the story will be. So, jump on in and leave your suggestions. Hugs and kisses. ♥️
