The Beginning

So the adventure has begun.......and I am having a blast!! I guess I should start from the beginning. Well, I spent the whole weekend packing and shopping for last minute things. When Sunday night rolled around I had a lot to do, but of course I could not miss "Desperate Hosewives" or "Grey's Anatomy", so I had to stay up until three in the morning to finish everything. I woke up at seven to get ready and then left at nine for the airport. Arrived at 9:30, checked my baggage in, went through security, and found my terminal, which was the first one after security. Sat down, read my book; things were going to be easy. WRONG!!!! Ten or twenty minutes before the plane was supposed to take off, they announced that there was a mechanical problem, and that there would be a delay. So I was like "Oh, ok, no problem". But then she said to get in line for re-booking, so everyone in the terminal ran up to the desk.
By the time I realized what was going on, almost everyone was in line, so I stood in it as well. It was SO LONG, I was in line for about an hour and a half. It was cool though, I talked to the guy in front of me, he was from conn., on his way to St. Louis to visit family (he was taking a lay over in Chicago). Oh by the way, my plane was supposed to leave at 11:30, and by the time I reached the desk it was one. The woman told me that the 1:40 flight was full but she would put me on standby for the 3:30, so I went and waited in the the terminal for the 3:30 flight.
When the airplane arrived, I was number twenty on the standby list, and the flight was overbook. Well obviously I didnt make the flight, so I went up to the guy at the desk at he said that I was now on standby for the 5:30 flight, so I went and waited at that terminal. Well, when this plane arrived I was number 7 on the standby list and the flight was overbooked (it was a holiday). The next flight and LAST flight was at the 7:30, the question was whether I would make it or not........just kidding, I was given a boarding pass for this flight, so I was definitly on the plane. When it was time to leave, we all got on the plane, no problems whatsover. The flight was pretty dull, I slept and read. It wasn't until we began flying over Chicago that it became interesting.
The city from that height was BEAUTIFUL!!! There were millions of lights, and the only buildings you could make out were the skyscrapers, the Sears Tower was the most visible. Our landing went well and we were able to get out of the plane pretty fast. I walked down to baggage claim after we landed and after standing there for ten minutes, watching the baggage gp around did I realize that mine wasn't on my plane. First I checked all the other baggage claims for American Airlines; no luck. Then I went up to the Baggage desk and the woman there sent be to another desk. On way I found my Uncle and explained my situation. As we were talking to the guy at the next desk a security guard brought out my bag. That was the end of my VERY long day. We loaded my bags into the car, drove to my Uncle and Aunt's house, and we all went to bed. I don't have time to explain any thing else right now, but more fun stuff has happened. I also don't have time to check to make sure everything is correct in this entry, sorry if there are many mistakes. I will try to keep updating.

OH! Before I forget, there was this really hot navy guy who was on standby as well for the 5:30 flight and then flew with me on the 7:30 flight (he sat two seats in front of me). The reason I knew he was in the navy was because he was dressed in uniform and he had one of those cool sailor hats. Hey Steph, even though I didn't get close to him, I noticed he had really nice eyes. It was so funny because while we were waiting on Standby I thought he was watching me, but then I thought "Oh no, I'm just paranoid". So I had to walk over to a pay phone and call my aunt, to tell her I didn't make another flight. Well, I was talking, leaning against the phone, facing right, when I shifted and turned to my left. There he was, looking right at me! I turned around quickly and almost did a dancec because this really hot guy was looking at me. Sorry, I had to mention that, it was the only fun part of my day. Peace Out!!
