Students, in light of a recent request from our headmaster [they don't need to know the full details] I want to remind you all of the purpose of evacuation drills and proper procedure for both the drills and in the event of an actual evacuation ( Read more... )

I've reviewed the records and apparently drills have been a recent event. Due to the apparent mysterious nature of our Headmaster, I suspect he is subtly warning us that something large is about to happen soon. I also suspect there is something keeping him from being forthright with us.

I agree, a staff meeting as soon as possible would be wise. [And damn it all to Hell, where is Elizabeth Swann?!]

On a related note, I volunteered to be one of the four staff members outside conducting the headcounts.

The mouse has introduced things on a whim before, often giving no notice before. He's shared information with the staff at the last possible moment... or sometimes a few days too late.

He cannot be relied upon. [Which, coming from a military woman? Who is used to having strict orders from her superiors? That is a strong condemnation.] So we must see to things ourselves.

I'm hoping to institute multiple headcounts. One before the evacuation procedures to ensure all students are accounted for and then those who volunteered to do one outside to make sure everyone remains accounted for.

[That was something difficult for Norrington to swallow, but he has seen incompetent superiors in the past; No one was infallible.]

I see.

Despite his shortcomings it is still best to err on the side of caution. I will recommend, during the meeting if this is not the appropriate place, that the staff be well armed and that the students who have not undergone dream training be kept under a stricter protection. Those who have should, perhaps, be given more responsibilities to look after their fellows.

If the dream training actually does anything.

I'm not doubting Dr. Facilier, but until the students who have undergone the training are tried and tested against the Mist and those creatures, we have no idea whether or not they are actually more prepared. Even then, the other students are not their responsibility. They are ours.

[She steeples her fingers, not looking at the comm but not turning it off either.]

We don't even know what these drills are for.

The mouse has confirmed that he wants the students outside-- finally-- but should they be kept away from the building? Guided to another? Without more information, we have to guess at our objective.

And it's risky to make a plan based on speculation.

[Hm. However peculiar it might be to both a woman and a member of the military, this one did seem to know what she was doing. A strong sense of duty, commitment to her charges... admirable indeed.]

I agree. I suppose we might convene in one of the lecture halls?

Lecture hall 3, an hour after dinner? Will that work for you, sir?

[Maximus looks serious and nods to just about everything he just heard.

Yes, Helga, what you say is very logical and he'll be happy to help.

What kinds of emergencies?

Things like a fire.

The staff members will make sure you're taken care of as long as you listen to them.

Oh... But I can always go out the window, can't I?

If absolutely necessary.

But please try and stay with your group. We don't want someone not being accounted for.
