Winter Break P2

2 days before Christmas, I went to the Palm Springs Living Desert. It's a tradition for me, so I go ever year. XP
This time however, I went a bit earlier in the day so I could try and sketch some animals. Did a few quick sketches, was hoping to take some pictures too, but sadly, my camera died pretty quickly. The sandcats were really active too, and I wanted good photos of them. But because of my camera's lamesauceness, I only managed to get one.

A few photos I got earlier that i'm really proud of...

While I was sketching, I made a new friend! She was a photographer, and she showed me a few of her pictures. She took me over to the butterfly area (that i failed at finding). We exchanged e-mails and she said she would send me a few of her photos. She also mentioned that if I ever traveled to San Francisco, she'd treat me to lunch. :)  It was almost closing time, so I slipped into the gift shop to buy any animal references I could find. I bought about 10 postcards for a dollar and a small toy figure of a cheetah. I would be coming back to the desert for the night time festivities (the reason I go every year). Went to Denny's to get something to eat, then headed back. Admired all of the pretty christmas lights and villages set up. Wish I could've gotten some pictures...stupid camera. Went over by the fire and spent the rest of the night sketching from all of the references I got. Ended my night by making smores, which I totally failed at the first time. I was trying to get my marshmellow to melt, but it refused to. So I put it deep into the fire. After a few tries, it finally caught on fire. Tried to blow it out....didn't work. Tried a few more times...still on fire. At this point, it was turning completely black, so I started shaking the stick...which caused my marshmellow to fly off and land in the fire. Kinda sad, lol. Luckily, I still had one marshmellow left.
Then it was time to leave! Disneyland and Christmas Eve next day!
My friend Heather and I spent the day at the park. Even though we were blocked off and had to spend $45 to get in, it was still pretty worth it. I went to Disneyland on Christmas Eve last year to see a friend of mine who was quitting, and had an amazing time, so I had to go back and do it again this year! Only this time, nobody was leaving, lol. The moment we got there, we headed straight to Big Thunder Ranch to see a devious dear friend of ours...

HE SPIES! HE DRAWS YOU SCARY THINGS! HE WILL TRAP YOU IN AN UMBRELLA!

As vicious as he is, we love him.
Another huge highlight of the day was going to this...awesome rib dining spot in Frontierland (totally forgets the name). It was about $25 per person, so yeah...kinda expensive. But it's a buffet, with performers and music, so it's prety worth it i'd say. :) Something I probably won't get to do again for quite some time.

The final highlight of this trip was the Christmas Eve character explosion!!

And there were plenty more. =)
So overall, twas' an epic night at Disneyland. Heather and I left the park soon afterwards, excited for Christmas waiting for us the next day.

I shall update another day! Stay tuned for "Winter Break P3"!
