(no subject)
i really miss the days when school was canceled due to an abundance of snow. why can't work be canceled for the same reasons? i actually made it in early today. there were very few people out when i left this morning, though the trains were about average in people-content. and i have literally NO WORK to do all freakin day.
anyway, christmas was fun. christmas eve-eve i got together with vicki, pat and dave and we exchanged gifts. i got a gift certificate to newbury comics, the bourne supremacy, ocean machine, and a book about surviving zombie attacks for john and me, haha. so awesome.
we had dinner christmas eve with my godmother (who also came up from florida) and grandparents. it was delicious (homemade gnocci and roast beef...mmm), followed by many desserts and drinks. after that we hung around and watched the bourne supremacy and then i headed over to john's. john got me QUANTUM LEAP season two (you're all jealous, but it's okay), megadeth's youthanasia, and a cool little deck of edward scissorhands playing cards.
christmas john and i slept in and then i headed home just before noon. i made lasagna and we had chicken and duck (i didn't eat any duck)...and beer and more dessert. spunky opened his present like a pro. he just grabs it and shreds the paper until its all gone and then runs away with his new toy. he's the greatest dog ever. after everything, i headed over to john's a bit early and we hid upstairs in his room and watched movies and drank wine.
yesterday i woke up surprised to see snow, which obviously hasn't stopped much since then. paul, john, and i went out to lunch and then he made us watch napoleon dynamite. parts were amusing but overall i didn't really like the movie (as i knew i wouldn't), but i lost the coin toss. there just wasn't any point to the movie. oh well. i bought CLASH OF THE TITANS yesterday. i <3 medusa. that's going to be really exciting to watch. i haven't seen that movie in ages. i just have to find jason and the argonauts now. then last night brandi, paul, and carol all went over to dave's to meet up with vicki, pat, and (of course) dave. we watched some bill hicks stand-up and we BOOKED OUR HOTEL FOR LAS VEGAS! woooooo! we're going in june. i can't wait. its going to be so much fun. i'm going to marry an elvis impersonator and not tell anyone because, after all, what happens in vegas.... haha. by the time i left again i had to clean my car for about the fourth time. i successfully made it to john's house after leaving dave's and eventually ended up here this morning after a slight struggle with the elements to get my car out of its parking spot.
on a somber note, the tragedy in southern asia is really heartbreaking. i can't believe how many people have died as a result of the earthquake and the subsequent tsunami. there's nothing more to say except that i hope the countries afflicted receive an overabundance of aid and have as quick a recovery as possible with minimal additional suffering (though i'm sure it's going to be hell for a long time...). :(
