Day after day this routine was repeated. Every time, Sungmin would make up an excuse about his apartment being too cold or empty, or sometimes it was because Sungmin forgot his keys, but somehow they always mysteriously appeared in Sungmin’s pocket. Sungmin couldn’t help it but make stupid excuses, he just loved staying with Kyuhyun, cooking breakfast for him every morning and seeing him smile when he ate the food he made, saying it was delicious, and how Kyuhyun would hug him and hum melodies that lulled him to sleep. For the first time in months, he fell asleep, feeling safe as Kyuhyun wrapped his arms around him.

Kyuhyun thought the excuses Sungmin made up were stupid and unneeded. Kyuhyun of course couldn’t deny that he liked having Sungmin around. For once, his life was colorful, and he lived for something else other than sex. It was already one month since his last visit to the club hitting on some random stranger or such. The feeling he felt when he was around Sungmin was a nice, fluffy feeling he couldn’t describe. But overall, he loved it. He loved it when Sungmin wakes up and makes breakfast or when Sungmin cries on his shoulder (because it was the only time Kyuhyun could kiss Sungmin’s face in order to calm Sungmin down). He loved every moment he spent with Sungmin, the joy was indescribable.

Slowly Sungmin forgot about Yesung in Kyuhyun’s company. Kyuhyun just had this effect on him that made him feel so calm and relaxed. Why, he didn’t know. Slowly he stopped having nightmares about Yesung and had dreams with fluffy pink clouds and rainbows with other cute stuff that Sungmin loved instead.

It was a wonderful feeling they both couldn’t describe in words.

*A few weeks later

“Kyu! Wanna go to a birthday party with me? Its this Saturday!” Sungmin bounced into the room excitedly and looked like he was trying his very best not to explode from joy.

“What, I don’t even know whose party it is.” Kyuhyun muttered and looked away, blushing. Going to a party with Sungmin? It was as good as being run down by a car.

“Aww, Kyu, come on! Just get a birthday card or something!” Sungmin pleaded and used his puppy eyes on Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun obviously couldn’t resist Sungmin’s cuteness even if he wanted to because Sungmin looked like some fluffy cute animal at that moment.

“Fine, I’ll go.” Kyuhyun finally gave up after two minutes of trying to fight the cuteness and reluctantly agreed. He was certainly no match against Sungmin when Sungmin was like that.

“Yay! You’re the best, Kyu!” Sungmin hugged Kyuhyun so suddenly he lost balance and they both crashed onto the sofa with Sungmin giggling like crazy and Kyuhyun blushing like mad.

Kyuhyun got up and walked to the bedroom, still blushing and muttering something about Sungmin begin too crazy and foolish. And even though Sungmin caught it, he knew Kyuhyun was kidding, so he just sat on the sofa smiling widely like a kid trapped in Disneyland overnight. Only that the smile was much wider, possibly the widest grin any human could ever manage.

Sungmin eventually moving all his things to Kyuhyun’s apartment to stay there permanently, since he was sleeping there overnight everyday anyway. Kyuhyun did mutter some form of protest, but agreed in the end. Truth to be told, he was overjoyed. Of course he would be. He would get to see Sungmin everyday, who wouldn’t be happy to see Sungmin? Sungmin was always so filled with energy and colors that lit up people’s lives. Kyuhyun doesn’t know if Sungmin really made everyone feel happy. He lit up Kyuhyun’s life anyway.

A day before the party, Kyuhyun asked Sungmin what he was going to give. Sungmin just smiled and answered with a hint of sadness in his voice, “A song.” When Kyuhyun asked why he didn’t want to give something more meaningful or something that his friend could keep, Sungmin explained to Kyuhyun why.

“Well, you see, my friend has this huge crush on this guy since primary school and he wants to ask him out during the party, so I offered to play a song for him while he asked.”

“Wow.. That’s so sweet and romantic.” Kyuhyun slowly said as he pondered upon his thoughts. He was actually feeling.. jealous? Sungmin was playing a song for his friend, and he never did that for Kyuhyun before. Somehow it felt unfair, because Kyuhyun thinks that he helped Sungmin with a lot of things and accompanied him through the tough times. But why didn’t he get a song even?

“Yeah, I know!” Sungmin smiled cheerfully and sighed. “If only I could do this for the person I loved.”

Kyuhyun kept quiet. He didn’t know Sungmin liked someone. His heart was crushed, he didn’t even know why. It was quite impossible.. Kyuhyun thought. Suddenly it dawned upon him that he was actually in love. With Sungmin. Kyuhyun shook his head. It couldn’t be true. He can’t be in love. But if it wasn’t love, what could it be? A little voice in his head questioned him. All the things he did with Sungmin, all the light kisses. And how his heart did a somersault when they hugged. There was no other explanation. “Argh, I don’t know okay.” Kyuhyun muttered in frustration.

“Yes, Kyuhyun. Did you say something?” Sungmin looked up from playing the guitar and looked at Kyuhyun curiously.

“Oh, no I didn’t, you must be hearing voices.” Kyuhyun looked up and said quickly to cover up. Sungmin must thinking that he’s insane now. Kyuhyun sighed and said he was going to go take a nap.

In bed Kyuhyun just tossed and turned, confused by the rush of feelings that was all coming at one go. He didn’t know if he really indeed was in love with Sungmin or not. He couldn’t stay away from Sungmin forever if it was true anyway. But he couldn’t confess either. What if Sungmin ran away from him thinking that he was a weirdo? What if Sungmin killed himself because he was freaked out by the confession? What if-

“Kyu, I seriously think there’s something wrong with you.” Sungmin walked into the room and sat down beside Kyuhyun.

“What? There’s nothing wrong with me.” Kyuhyun mumbled with a hint of annoyance.

“You’ve been acting strange all day. There must be something wrong.” Sungmin held Kyuhyun’s shoulder and looked at him seriously.

Kyuhyun shrugged Sungmin’s hand off and shouted at Sungmin, “THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME SUNGMIN, NOTHING.”

Shock was written all over Sungmin’s face, and tears began falling. Sungmin turned and ran out of the door, into the living room and out of the apartment. After a few moments, Kyuhyun realized what he did and followed Sungmin out, trying to get a sorry into him.

Luckily the lift was slow, and Kyuhyun managed to catch up with Sungmin at the lift lobby. He hugged Sungmin and kept apologizing, but Sungmin’s tears kept falling. They slowly walked back to Kyuhyun’s apartment and sat down on the sofa where Sungmin was still crying.

“Sungmin.. I’m sorry.. I was confused and annoyed about something and just snapped at you.. I didn’t mean it..” Kyuhyun rushed through the words and his face was crumpled with lines of worry. Maybe Sungmin would never forgive him. If Sungmin really wouldn’t forgive him he might as well stay in his room everyday doing nothing but regretting and sulking. Yeah, then he’ll starve to death because Sungmin won’t make him anymore food.

“I k-know.. But.. h-he s-screamed at me l-like this before. I was so scared, Kyu, so scared wh-whenever he shouted l-like that.” Sungmin hugged Kyuhyun and cried again.

“Shh.. Sungmin.. I’m sorry I was like that.. I’m really sorry..” Suddenly Kyuhyun was crying too. The both of them just embraced each other and stayed there, trying to comfort each other when they were both scared. Scared that they would be hurting each other, scared that they would lose the warmth and comfort they had given each other throughout this few months. Scared to lose each other, but too afraid to admit.

If only they were brave enough to say it.

*The day of the party.

Kyuhyun was awoken from his deep slumber by a tickling sensation on the crook of his neck. He stirred awakened squinted his eyes due to the light pouring in as the morning sun rose up. He looked at Sungmin in front of him, and everything from yesterday came pouring back. Kyuhyun cringed at the memory. He made Sungmin cry. He was not suppose to make Sungmin cry, he had promised himself that. Kyuhyun sighed. If only..

“Kyu?” Sungmin mumbled while his head was still at the crook of Kyuhyun’s neck, making Kyuhun feel ticklish. He squirmed and Sungmin immediately shot up, looking dazed and confused, face still stained from the tears yesterday. “Oh my, we must have fallen asleep here..” Sungmin trailed off, looking embarrassed. Kyuhyun stared at him and his heart just broke. Sungmin’s cheeks were flushed, but the pain and sadness were evident in his eyes, and the stained face of his. Guilt just stabbed Kyuhyun in the chest and he bit his lower lip trying to not think about it.

“Kyu.. Kyu? KYU!” Sungmin waved his hands in front of Kyuhyun and he looked up, shocked. “You were spacing out again, Kyu.” Sungmin frowned. “If anything is wrong you can tell me, okay?”

“Uhm, yeah, thanks.” Kyuhyun said absentmindedly. He was still thinking about the déjà vu that caused Sungmin to cry. Because of him.. Sungmin cried.. It was all his fault..

“Kyu! Oh my gosh, we do have to get ready for the party you know!” Sungmin sofly giggled at Kyuhyun as he stared into space again.

“Oh right, the party, yes.” Kyuhyun quickly said.

Kyuhyun laid down on the  sofa and closed his eyes as Sungmin went to prepare. Suddenly someone was shouting his name. Wait, someone shouting his name? He opened his eyes to see Sungmin directly on top of him, with his huge chocolate brown orbs staring right down at his eyes. Kyuhyun let out a small scream and Sungmin jumped away. Kyuhyun breathed slowly and looked at Sungmin, who was looking back at Kyuhyun, alarmed.

“My gosh, why would you want to do that..” Kyuhyun stared at Sungmin as he mumbled.

“Well, you didn’t wake up after ten minutes, so I thought I should shout at you..” Sungmin blushed and began pulling at his shirt.

"That.. wasn’t really necessary.. But okay, I’ll go get changed first..” Kyuhyun got up slowly from the sofa and went into the bedroom where he proceeded to take a bath.

---

Sungmin looked at the soft creases on the sofa material as Kyuhyun slowly stood up, trying to distract himself. Kyuhyun was not really in a good mood, so staying still might be the best choice for now. And since he was doing nothing, he couldn’t help but suddenly be lost in his train of thought.

“Why was Kyu acting so weird yesterday.. I have to find out.. Maybe he likes me? Wait that is impossible, he looks so perfect, like an angel from heaven, whereas I look like a plain person that blends in with the crowd.. Wait he said I looked cute before, didn’t he? So could it mean he just might like me, even for a little bit? Maybe.. But there is no confirmation.. And I actually doubt so myself.. But there is a little bit of hope..”

“A little bit of hope for what?” Kyuhyun walked out of the bathroom, freshly dressed. He raised an eyebrow and looked at Sungmin curiously. “So?”

Sungmin obviously didn’t realize he had actually spoken out his last sentence of his thoughts aloud until Kyuhyun asked him about it. He looked up, startled and confused. “What? I was.. erm.. talking to myself!” Sungmin smiled awkwardly and smiled sheepishly at Kyuhyun. Of course Kyuhyun knew he was lying, Sungmin was such a lousy liar.

“You are a rotten liar, Lee Sungmin. It’s written all over your face. Now tell me about it.” Kyuhyun said with a reassuring tone.

“I can’t! We’re late for the party, let’s go!” Sungmin rushed through his words, for they were really late. They were suppose to reach at four, and it was already 3.55. They had no choice but to take a cab, and Kyuhyun, being the rich kid he was, immediately said he’ll pay for it.

“Where’s the venue?” Kyuhyun asked Sungmin as the got inside the taxi.

Sungmin told the taxi driver the address and Kyuhyun added that if they could get them there within five minutes, the taxi driver would get an extra tip and upon hearing that, the taxi sped off immediately.

The taxi did get them to their designated venue within five minutes, and Kyuhyun was true to his words and gave the driver a huge tip. The driver must have drove at 120 miles per hour, because the surroundings were blurring past them, and they could literally see nothing. Looking at the rather old but sturdy building in front of them, Kyuhyun could not help but feel discomfort. He was so used to things that were grand and magnificent, and the building in front of them did not give the impression of neither. Parties he had been to were held at posh hotels or a big house, never an old building like this.

Holding a party at this place? You must be kidding me.
