[that big lovely bonfire at 1446 is not looking so lovely today. in fact, half of it has been diminished to a smouldering damp mess due to the sudden rain. ...the sudden rain that has decided to follow one (1) merry hippie around like a rabid, mentally imbalanced dog ( Read more... )

Aa, how nice of you. [opens dat umbrella. it sure is nice to not be soaking wet.]

[ It's what being a shota monk is all about. Glances at curiously because, dude, personal rain cloud. And is also standing at a distance where conversations can be had, but so he's not getting wet. ]

Did you get some of your powers back?

Oh! I'm Aang, by the way. It's nice to meet you.

[yeah he doesn't blame you. even sof was wary to hang around him with his old umbrella.] It's nice to meet you, too. You may call me Hao.

[as to the first question, his gaze momentarily rises to the umbrella overhead, shielding him from the ridiculous downpour] It seems so, though I'm afraid it's malfunctioning.

[ staring at that rain again. Kind of makes him wish it was raining so he could dance around it. But then he'd get yelled at by the people at his house and they would try to make him eat ribs again. and that would be bad, so he's just going to reach out a little curiousity to poke it. ]

I hope I get my powers back. It's weird not having my bending. [ Poke poke. Poke poke. ] but why is a rain cloud following you around as part of your powers anyway?

[go ahead and poke it! it isn't going to bite. just..you know. get everything soaking wet.

it takes him a moment to recall where he had heard of bending before - that little princess of the fire nation. something about elemental manipulation, similar to his own abilities if he remembered correctly. to the question, he simply answered with:] Manipulation over water.

[but his curiosity had been piqued.] What about you? I've met a bender before, though they're no longer here, so I have some knowledge of what that entails.

[ As long as it doesn't suddenly shoot out lightening, it's all good. But the questions distracts Aang, and he grins. MEt a bender? Maybe it was Toph? Or Zuko? Though, both would probably be more cautious about what they told people they didn't know. SO STARING AT YOU CURIOUSLY YET AGAIN BEFORE TALKING A SEAT IN FRONT OF YOU. ] So you're a waterbender? Or something like it?

[ Oh me? Well. ] It's kind of complicated. I'm naturally an airbender. Almost all of the monks raised in the Air Temples are. [ Another grin because, yay my childhood. ] But I can bend water, earth, and fire too, 'cause I'm the Avatar. [ And I'm special. ]

You said you met a bender, right? Was it Toph, or maybe Zuko?

[aww what a cute kid. he tilts his umbrella at a slight angle so Aang isn't splashed by any of the water bouncing off of it, seeming quite content to have a conversation buddy.] I don't recall her name, but I believe she was a fire bender. [he holds his hands up and snaps his fingers, a small flame appearing] We got on well enough, but she was quite immature.

[everyone is immature to someone who's been alive 1500 years BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT. his eyes light up in interest at the mention of ~the Avatar~ bit, though, smile brightening]

She mentioned you. I was excited to meet someone with similar abilities. [yeah Aang take that. someone else with full elemental powers!]

[ d'aww so sweet. but wait what is this. his smile drops, and he actually pouts a little. except it's supposed to be a frown, but being an adorable twelve year old has disadvantages. ] Azula. [ But lol yes she is quite immature. but scary. :x ] Yeah, she's the daughter of the Fire Lord. Really bad news.

..She did?

[ But just as quickly, Aang is staring at the flame, and smiling again. Okay maybe I'm not a special snowflake here, but still. D: ONE DAY. ] Water and fire? Are you an avatar too? For your own world?

...Do you know what an Avatar is? [ Because it's silly to expect and answer if he doesn't. Oopsie. ]

She didn't mention much. Just that you and I can both manipulate elements and that we create bridges between worlds. [he couldn't be bothered to recall all of their conversations, only remembering that the Avatar was someone with control over the four elements and that she didn't seem too fond of him.

to the question, he shrugged.] My world has no benders or avatars, but we do have shamans. That's the category I fall into.

[ Aang's eyes seem to light up at that. The tale of the Avatar and it's creation was a popular one in the Four Nations, being the story of the world's people. But there was no to tell it to other than children because, well..it was the story of their world's people. Everyone knew it ( ... )

[WOAH MAN that is a very large amount of information to take in. and poor aang, bothering to tip-toe around the bits of the story he didn't like when hao could read most of the sentiment with his nifty reishi. not that he was going to mention it, of course. how rude would that be.

he listens in complete silence to the rest of the tale, only giving a nod here or there to indicate he was keeping up with it, and alternating between smiles and sympathetic looks at the appropriate times. when he was all done with his spazzy speech, hao rises with a smile.]

My, what a story that is. Your world and your role in it both sound fascinating. [making sure to keep the umbrella tilted so the rain fell behind him, he reaches out to pat aang on his bald little head] And I'd be happy to see your marble trick, of course.
