It never fails.

A customer calls about something. Or comes in to get something. Something beyond the spectrum of my control happens. Either the item is out of stock, or there is a delay in shipping and their items are not available.

Why.... when I tell them this, do they then continue the conversation? I mean, after I say "it is impossible for me to help you", why do they even bother saying anything? I don't care if you're going on vacation tomorrow, I don't care if your aunt is sick, I don't care if you are losing business because of something I have no control over, I don't care about the weather, I don't care about the time you wasted driving here when you should have called ahead, I don't care about your family problems, or your long drawn out divorce stories to explain why your credit is bad. I... can't... fucking... help you!

I mean, it's not like I say "your credit is bad" and they say "well, my husband left me, got a bad drug habit, beat my kids, and stole my car". I do not withold the power to as if by magic *poof* make the bad credit score go away. I can't. I'm real sorry your life sucks. But I this isn't a councelling service, this is a business. Come back when you've gotten your head shrunk.

Or better yet, the people who have to plan things so 11th hour that when ohmygosh something doesn't go exactly as planned THE WORLD HAS ENDED! "What? my phone isn't in? I'm going on vacation for a month! My plane leaves in two hours! What am I going to do?????" Um... learn your lesson about how to plan ahead? Here, have a datebook. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Sheesh. I hate sales.
