Who: EVERYONE AND ANYONE Where: The Northern Lights Bar When: backdated- Thursday evening Rating: R to be safe! Summary: Poker nights have begun again! Open log for mingling, drinking and general debauchery! the log:
Some nights, Axel took a walk around, and went home and straight to bed. And some nights he remembered it was pointless. There weren't missions or reports, or any reasons to stay diurnal really, so he dragged ass over to The Lights.
It seemed to have been a good decision tonight. "Is some kind of event going on?"
"Hey, I haven't played poker since..." Since Luxord kicked his ass, so at least not since fall. "Well, a long time." He didn't know this happened regularly; it'd give him an excuse to haul ass to The Lights more often.
"Not to worry, you'll catch on again quickly." Jon gestured to one of the tables before sitting down himself. He tended to bring the beginners up to speed on anything- even if they'd played before it was a safer way to get un rusty.
"Every Thursday night. Had to pause a bit though, rations were low and all."
Skwisgaar had been milling about the bar (trying to score free booze) when he noticed the tables set up. He didn't really understand why the tables were set up in such a fashion, so he tried to think of the most rational and logical answer.
Addressing nobody in particular, he announced "Looks like it am Go Fishings nights."
Good luck with those free spirits my friend, Shinji isn't a push over much as he looks like it. Jonathan had been trying to fix the craps table when he saw the unfamiliar blond. Seemed to be a night for new faces!
"Ah...not exactly Old Maid, old boy. Poker actually."
Yay, poker nights! \o/dreamgranterMarch 29 2010, 00:34:24 UTC
Bored as she normally felt, Yuuko had been particularly antsy that evening. It was then she remembered an old invitation she had never followed through with and decided to take a stroll around the Northern Lights and perhaps join Jonathan and the others for a poker night. At least it would keep her entertained.
The witch made her way inside the bar and approached the gambling tables without so much as a sound or motion to make her presence known, standing by one side and watching the game. It was hard not to notice her as it was, after all.
Jonathan was about a hare's breath away from just throwing the craps table in as fire wood. The sides kept falling and he wasn't about to bother counting the number of splinters he'd received from the shoddy wood. Sucking on one said splinter he took a moment to glance around; spotting the familiar woman easily. He grinned and after a moment was by her side with a wide grin.
"My dear Yuuko, you do stick out a bit in a mundane crowd, don't you."
"And here I was, trying to remain inconspicuous for the rest of the night," She teased, returning his smirk with one of her own. Jon was the only familiar face around, but after an evening of drinks and games, that was bound to change.
"Darling I'm afraid you radiate a bit too much for inconspicuous." Hopefully it would- a big gathering like this had to have some other benefit besides allow Jon a chance to drink himself stupid.
"Ah, well luck is a rather relevant term." In others, she was completely right.
Meanwhile, the resident barkeep lounged behind the bar counter, both feet propped up on a barstool. He was damned tired (so he'd watch instead of play.) However, he kept a wary eye on the alcohol stash back here. That Thursday night crowd tended to be kinda untrustworthy, when it came to his supplies.
Even so. He didn't mind seeing them all around. Reminded him that this place was something other than a hellhole.
Walks up and sits himself on one of the bar stools. He placed his hands on the bar and looked at the barkeep. "Nice to have a bit of movement around here, don't you think?"
Now he was very aware of just how unsavory most of the folks were that came in; but he never felt a need to worry. The Lights staff was not exactly a group of push overs after all.
"Tch. It's the busiest place in town, not that I've got much competition."
Shinjiro swung his arm over to pour a half-glass of darkness beer for Jonathon. He slid it toward him without a question--besides, if the other man didn't want it, he'd take it back again just as quick. Drinking on the job was something he did a lot. Especially over the last few months.
"Ain't bad seeing these poker nights up again..." A welcome change from the winter survivalist hell.
Jonathan? Refuse a drink? Perish the thought my dear sir! Especially one from a man he'd dare consider a friend. With a soft ease he took the beer in hand, sipping it rather then just gulping it down. Make decent things last was the rule of thumb out here.
"You should be a proud proprietor then. Teeming business keeping the doldrums away." A rare smile because he is in full agreement, "Yes. Moral needed a bit of improvement and...well not everyone is suited to the more ah...delicate entertainments around here?"

"Poker night my good man. Now that all this business of blizzards is over seems a right good time to start them up again."
