It'd taken him some bartering but he managed to get some bottles of booze for everyone to share. There wasn't much to go 'round the bar so there was only enough for a few drinks for each person, but it'd do the trick. He'd just have to keep an eye out on Zoro, the lush, and his brother. Not to say he wouldn't have a drink or two extra for himself. For the trouble of course!

He grinned at Chopper and gave the kid a thumbs up from where he couched, sipping his alcohol from a small paper cup. He'd found a sleeve of them in one of the random stores, they seemed like they were working pretty good. They'd been covered in plastic so they were clean.

He'd just sit back and enjoy the antics for now, he was glad to be a part of this and see just how happy it made the little doctor.

Chopper had been content with just running around and goofing off with everyone, but from time to time there was that little doctor voice in his head asking him about Ace. From the looks of it he seemed perfectly fine, and Chopper new now wasn't a time to begin nagging and worrying over others but... well, one could never be too sure, right?

So he excuses himself for a quick second from the others and sort of scuttles over to where Ace has been lounging around.

"Ace! Are you having fun?"

And he kind of berates himself a little because, well duh, of course he is. Everyone is! Guess beating around the bush was never his strong point. He gives a little cough into his hoof and really gets to what he'd been wanting to say.

"Are you... better now? I never had time to see if you were doing well with.... everything that happened. And then I was gone for a day... or two. I think it was just a day. And I just was wondering... um, well if you're feeling better? Colds can be kind of tricky, especially when you've never had them before."

He looked up from the swig he'd taken from one of the random bottles he brought to see Chopper scuttling his way. He smiled warmly at the little fellow as he approached.

"Absolutely!" He answered with enthusiasm. It was great seeing everyone together like this. Though he would be lying if it didn't make him a little homesick for his Nakama.

"I'm getting there, thanks to you." The kid didn't need to know what had happened to him the day before with the Ofuda. In fact, he was trying not to really think on it. He buried the memories again and wanted to replace them with memories of this night.

"Yeah, my cold doesn't bother me anymore but my body needs a little time yet. I've been taking it easy. Doctors orders after all." He grinned at the reindeer.

"That's good! I shouldn't be the only one having fun today! This party should be for everyone! Since things have been so hard for a long time. It's nice to have a break like this."

Oh no, Ace, did you just thank him? You know what that does to him. Chopper tries so hard to fight back the reaction but he's not doing a very good job. He looks a little sheepish and tugs on the sides of his hat. "Y-You don't need to thank me~. I didn't do much at all~ Bastard~"

But he manages to crank down on his emotions at the last comment. Serious doctor mode on! "That's good, but try to get as much rest as you can. That's the best thing for you to do right now, especially since the snow and cold haven't gone away. Me or Doctorine can always find something to help you out more." He gives a little huff and crosses his arms over his furry chest. "That's right, and you'd better follow those orders. No sneaking out to get a jacket like last time!"

Usopp was happily enjoying himself, glad to have his crewmate back, and his 'Sogeking' personality had come back as well. He could be truly brave now, and maybe be of some actual help to his friends. He'd never forget the awe-struck gaze in Chopper's eyes when the masked hero had shown up...

But this was hardly any times for tears or strength of character. Not, this was a time of joy and laughter! Laughter being his specialty, after all, and he was proving it in his corner. He'd furrow his brows or make his voice higher, as he was going through a round of silly imitations. Granted, he'd occasionally get kicked or punched for the 'insult', but there was general fun to be all around at his antics.

Chopper was constantly amazed at just how good Usopp's imitations were. He could swiftly move from a grumpy Zoro to a love-struck Sanji to a hungry Luffy, all in record time and without a single slip-up, and each one never ceased to keep him from laughing until his sides hurt.

And then a thought hit him. He wasn't sure why it had hit him at that moment, but remembering his meeting with Sogeking was always enjoyable.

"Usopp, that reminds me! Sogeking was here! He went to my window after I woke up and talked to me! You won't believe the things he said to me! It was amazing~!"

Usopp had just been about to crinkle his face for an impression of the other doctor there, but Chopper's question threw him off. He fumbled a little, and then tried to compose himself as quickly as possible, standing up straight with a somewhat interested look to his face.

"Sogeking was here? Really?" He asked, sounding a little skeptical to keep up the 'disguise'. "He must think you're pretty important for him to stop by and talk to you. I can't believe I missed it."

"Really! He must have thought I was reeally important too! He gave me all these compliments, saying that I was a true warrior, and that I had a true heart of victory! He even said he felt honored to see me!"

The excitement was just oozing out of each and every word he spoke and, geez, was he ever going to run out of sparkles?

"A-and he even gave me a nickname! A really super awesome nickname! Do you wanna know what it was?! Guess what it was!"

Luffy was having a blast. His nakama were okay and together, and even though they were still missing a few members from home, they were having fun and they had some special guests along for today too. There was food, there was booze (not that he really drank much anyway, but he made up for it by eating more)... Everything was almost perfect.

So it seemed only natural to put a couple of sticks that looked kinda like chopsticks up his nose and do the basket dance with Chopper.

"It's too bad Brook's not here to play us some music!"

bokuwadoctaaa September 5 2009, 00:14:47 UTC
Now this was something he had definitely missed, as silly as it sounded. Oh chopsticks, what would we ever do without you? Chopper had joined in on the dancing, of course with chopsticks up his nose, because there was really no other way for him to do it.

He had tried to respond somehow but he had forgotten that chopsticks up nose = how do I spoke coherent words? So he takes them out for a moment.

"Aah, that would be great! Or maybe we could just... make our own music! We can always sing!"

needzmoarcrew September 5 2009, 00:26:34 UTC
Luffy took his own chopsticks out and nodded.

"Yeah, we should sing!"

Unfortunately, Luffy's three-second attention span kicked in and he spotted Kureha on a stretcher.

"OR WE SHOULD RACE STRETCHERS!"

Stretchers? Kureha's head lifts up hearing Luffy's cheer. Quickly, the witch jumps up pointing her finger at him.

"Oi! These isn't for racing!"

A party...well, that's one way to change the mood. It seemed kind of fitting for a bunch of pirates, though, didn't it? It wasn't about forgetting pain, but being able to laugh through it.

But it wasn't by accident that Umi showed up a little late. The same way she, Hikaru and Fuu needed to share some moments by themselves, the Straw Hats might have needed that too -- even if they didn't know it. Chopper was her friend, but those guys had a much different bond, and she knew it.

Still! A friend was a friend, and in time she did show up -- with a small box in hand. Oh yes, she definitely saw the way you looked at that birthday cake last time they had a party, Chopper.

The second Umi had showed up, Chopper had paused shortly in everything that he had been doing.

That smell... he knew that smell. Could he really be -that- lucky?

He made a mad dash towards her with a trail of sparkles right behind him and the widest smile he could make. Of course he was glad to see her, she was his friend after all, but there was something about that box in her hands that he knew he was going to be very glad to see as well.

"Umi you're here! I was hoping you'd come! You're gonna have a lot of fun, I know it! You have a box! Is something special in the box? Can I see? Can I?"

Odds are he's speaking a mile a minute and looks about read to explode with glee, but can you blame him? Everything has just left him so darn happy! AND HE SMELLS SWEETS~!

It was something that still creeped her out, thinking about it...dying here. Her own death was something she very nearly hadn't recovered from at all, so she was surprised, happy, maybe even relieved to see Chopper able to act the way he was. (And were those...sparkles? How cute!) For a second she hoped that Hikaru would be able to make it -- she had invited the smaller girl, but no show yet. Still, with the way she got along with Mokona, Umi suspected she and Chopper might become good friends.

The young reindeer did, however, seem to narrow his sights on that box in her hand with ferocious intensity.

Just as planned.

Umi beamed, and with a small flourish (and maybe a little sparkling of her own) she handed over the box. Inside was a small, round cake: iced, piped, and with a small pink reindeer drawn on it.

"Surprise! I made it just for you."

And there it was. Another cake. And it even had a reindeer on it! Chopper just stared down at the contents of the box with a wide smile, sparkles surrounding him.

Until they disappeared for a second.

"Y-you made this just for me?"

And there went the sparkles again, but not without a happy stream of tears.

"THANK YOU UMI~!"

It was almost hard to believe that just a few days ago, Chopper had been a sick wreck atop of a hospital bed. That just a hours ago, he had woken up after dying. He didn't ever think he'd be able to overcome such a thing as death. The minute he had woken up, he had felt so lost and confused... and terrified. He had no idea what to do from there. He knew that moving on and conquering such a thing would be difficult, especially for him. As a doctor, he knew that even though he had another chance of life, in any other place or circumstances, he should still.... be dead. That thought tore him up inside and kept him in that hospital bed, silent but scared beyond words after he had woken up. He had even begun to ( ... )

Now this was something, throw a party after being dead. Yet, what better place than a hospital. These pirates were something. Heck, this was even a hell of a lot better than what Zim threw a month back. Kureha tilts her head back laughing.

Oh... what the heck, Kureha chills sitting on a wheeled stretcher with her legs crossed and a plastic cub of booze in one hand. She watches Usopp flailing and Luffy shouting. These kids, they are something. The witch doctor could just shout her cheer holding her cup up in the air.

A toast to herself that her son has returned.

And here is said son, prancing and dancing over with chopsticks in his nose and just generally having the time of his life.

"dotorin, ihis ohay?" Oops, forgot about the chopsticks. He takes them out for a second and speaks again.

"Doctorine, is this okay? I know hospitals aren't usually places where you have parties. Hopefully no one minds."

Kureha kept a straight face watching her reindeer prancing around like a goofball. Once Chopper spoke with the chopsticks, Kureha had to lean over chuckling.

After a moment retaining herself, she lifts her head with a grin, "naw, if they have a problem they can call me." Kureha took a drink after spoken. "Now, what's with these chopsticks?"

bokuwadoctaaa September 5 2009, 01:03:57 UTC
"Maybe if they do have a problem, we can just invite them to celebrate with us!"

He blinks and stares down at his chopsticks. "Oh, well um... you put them like this." And in go the chopsticks. "Ahn hats it. is hun. 'uhhy howed be-" Okay odds are none of that made sense. He takes them out again. "Like that. Luffy showed it to me the first time I was on the ship!"
