OOC: A Note on Program Non-Biology!

LOOK AND FEEL

By all appearances, right down to pores on the skin, eyelashes, fingernails, teeth, tongue and hair - even going so far as to be an anatomically correct male - Lizor by all appearances looks like a human. There are some cosmetic differences such as skin coloring and the fact that he has no body hair save for what's on his head - also his eyes have hexagonal pupils. But for the most part, he's very lifelike and is not like a mannequin or an android at all.

Lizor is warm to the touch and pliant. His skin feels very lifelike and smooth like ours. When you touch him you feel the same textures of hair and movement of bone and muscle as when you touch another person. If in direct contact with one of the glowing lines of his 'circuits' there is a tingling static type feel to it or a buzzing sensation and they are also a tad warmer than the surface of his skin. Even more so if he is worked up from combat or if he is routing extra energy through them.

It is all a complex illusion however and is all part of Lizor's surface render. These layers of code work with his subroutines and programming to give him a lifelike appearance and give him the ability to emote. Though his surface render can give the illusion of various emotions such as tears when crying, Lizor is unable to sweat - and he doesn't blush with his skin. He technically doesn't have a need to bathe, but once he discovers a bath or a shower, he might only develop the habit for the reason that it feels wonderful sensory wise.

His basic appearance is pretty set, but he can create surface layers to mask his appearance, or he can 'stealth' his circuitry so that they go dark - these abilities are typical of high level security programs. Lizor also does not need to worry about hair cuts to keep his hair at the same length. He also doesn't have to worry about shaving to keep his face clean shaven like a human male. Extra layers of his surface render he can control via his disc interface to also protect himself with armor and other variations of clothing.

BREATHING/COOLING FUNCTION

Lizor even has a function that looks, sounds and feels very much like breathing. Drawing in air through the nose and mouth in an inhale, and exhaling the same way. It works as an advanced cooling system to keep his processing systems at an optimum functioning temperature. He doesn't necessarily need to breath to survive like a human does and can cease this function if needed - if he is able to regulate his temperature at a safe range in an external fashion.

CIRCULATORY/CIRCUITRY SYSTEM

Lizor doesn't have a heartbeat or a circulatory system as we know it. The closest equivalent would be how energy moves through his circuitry system which is closer to how our nervous system works as well as the neurons in our brain. The closest thing to feeling out a pulse one could do would be to seek out a known circuitry node point and feel the strength of the static tingle/buzzing sensation on the fingertips. Lizor has several at various locations on his body. Two main examples would be one on each shoulder just above each collarbone (where typically there is a glowing circle on his armor).

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM/ENERGY INTAKE

Due to being a life form of energy and code, Lizor doesn't have a digestive system like us with a stomach or intestines and so on. As an added note, he doesn't need to eliminate waste either as a biological person would. He does need to ingest a source of energy to survive however. On the Grid, this is done by drinking refined energy in liquid form. It can come in a variety of different potencies and colors (mostly seen in clubs and bars), but for the most part is seen as a glowing blue liquid.

When Lizor drinks to replenish himself, the effects are immediate as the energy absorbs into his system to energize him. It converts seamlessly into the energy needed to travel along his circuitry pathways. Once that process is complete, if he continues to drink energy, than his energy reserves are filled until they are topped up. These reserves are similar to batteries and serve to replenish him if he is unable to find energy stores to do it himself over long periods.

It is possible to overdo it, and this state is called an overcharge. The effect can appear almost as if he's drunk, though he doesn't have the same after effects that a human would have. The symptoms of overcharge can vary depending on the type of energy consumed with sometimes hilarious results ranging from intense aphrodisiac to something that strips away his inhibitions.

SEXUAL/RECREATION WHAT? (this section is probably NSFW but I'm subtle and tasteful about it!)

The million dollar question. Yes, Lizor is anatomically correct - but can he perform with a partner? Even Data on Star Trek: TNG was capable and got some action with Tasha Yar and he was an Android.

The answer: Yes he can!

There are some big differences though. Lizor has the equipment, but it is in appearance only. It is impossible for him to father children, because he doesn't secrete any fluids whatsoever during sex or otherwise and this includes ejaculation. He is able to be aroused however and get an erection, even sustain it, and he is able to have more control over it than a human does (depending on the situation - basically if he's extremely in the mood its harder to control). This is due to the fact that it is caused by a completely different process than a human reproductive system.

Lizor is also able to orgasm, though in program perspective, it is called an 'overload' due to the electric charge given off as his systems shed the extra overcharge built up from the stimulation. (harmless to a biological partner, but I imagine it feels rather interesting sensation wise).

Programs view sexuality in a much different light than biological humans do. For one, they do not have reproduction for the purpose of producing offspring. It is purely for recreation and enjoyment and connecting with others. They are familiar with kissing and various forms of foreplay and have similar errogenous zones that humans would be familiar with though terminology may be different (nipples being called sensory nodes for example).

Due to their long lifespans compared to humans, programs typically are considered polyamorous and do not normally stick with one partner exclusively in their runtimes. Many programs have a circle of close trusted that they are emotionally bonded to, that they turn to for physical comfort and friendship in the same time frame which is considered normal and acceptable. In the past, Lizor was very much like this. Very warm and social with many friends. He shared the comfort of touch with many companions that he grew close in friendship with. Physical contact in this way is considered natural and healthy and essential for psychological well being.

Programs do not have the gender distinctions/roles and relationship hang ups that humans do, so there will be confusion in that front if that ever comes up. There is also no nudity taboos or shame with the body. It's just the surface render after all. Also if he has any encounters, he will most likely be surprised by how messy a human can get when they are aroused. Very surprised. But Lizor was always the curious and experimental sort in the past. As a lover he can be playful but he's always very considerate of his partner and passionate as well as a quick learner.

PLEASE NOTE - What you just read is but a single facet about how programs do these sorts of recreational activities. They would call this aspect "User Style" and it would be more experimental no doubt.

A programs natural tendency is to purely partake in an energetic exchange that is nothing like what humans do. This can be done by what fans call "Circuit Stimulation" which is energetically exciting the circuit systems to create pleasure and eventually overload the systems.

I only wrote about the 'User style' aspect because Lizor is not in a computer and if he ever has an encounter with anyone they are most likely going to be biological (unless someone is from a digital background like him or something).

WE NEED A MEDIC!

What happens when Lizor gets injured? Does he bleed? Well for one he doesn't have a circulatory system so no, he doesn't. Despite the fact that in Tron Legacy it looks like you can touch some programs and they shatter like glass, Li is more durable than the average Basic (but he isn't invincible). He does have self repair subroutines that can deal with most minor injuries with no problem. They don't take instant effect like Wolverine's healing factor from the X-men - but with some energizing and some rest, he's pretty good to go. Of course, the length of recovery time would be determined by how severe the injuries were - and it requires a lot of energy to heal so he would need to energize often.

Bruising, cuts, abrasions, lesions and superficial injuries on the surface render appear as dulled mottled splotches with a linear almost grid-like pattern to it much like this. Open wounds and gashes resemble glowing jagged tears. Any injuries on a program would appear in the circuitry colors of that program, so in Lizor's case they would be in colors of deep blues.

In a program version of First Aid, digital patches can be applied over the injuries to protect them in the equivalent of a bandage. This feature can be accessed from the disc interface. Most programs know how to apply their own patches for minor surface render injuries, but for anything more they would seek the assistance of a medic oriented program.

If untreated, serious wounds that are deep or internal can cause slow destabilization and eventual deresolution (death). The program simply falls apart into small glass-like cube shaped fragments.

That's all I can think of for now. If there is any questions that you can think of about how Lizor functions - let me know in the comments or PM me - and I will add them to the post like a FAQ! I'd be happy to clear up any curiosities!
