Barn Kittens going outside now

Aug 30, 2009 12:49

Piggy and Eric are much happier campers now that the barn kittens are spending most of the day outside. Piggy decided to spend most of yesterday outside himself, now that he's realized there is life at the bottom of the tom cat pecking order, he seems to be enjoying the flowers and the conservatory Once in awhile he gets pushed out of the sun by Thor, Svarty or even Old Iggy; but then they go away and leave him alone. After spending that first enforced 24 hours outside Piggy was a new cat, he reminded me of the guy that has a fight with his wife and then goes to bar and takes on 17 guys but feels so much better for losing. For over a week he didn't even try to go out the bedroom door! Kittens were much better than tom cats. As I suspected this wore off, but all together it has a happy ending.

Eric seems to be love and be annoyed with the kittens at this stage. He will was "his" kitten when he's sleeping but growl him away if he's awake. But he gets upset when they are all outside and he's by himself, the more so if Piggy is outside too. I may start taking Eric out on leads, both Wolf and I feel he is just to dim to go out and play alone, at least for now. And he doesn't really need to, unless he just misses his friends.

Meanwhile, the babies are at that stage that little kids go through where they don't want to go out in the morning and don't want to come in at night. Last night Disa just refused to come in and nearly got herself a night out alone. I really think she is too small for that and since we had guests with cars, Wolf worked hard and got her back in. But next time, when its a normal Kilmurry night, she may not be so lucky. I feed the kittens wet food before going out and just coming in. So she missed her canned food supper and was pretty cranking this morning. She crawled up my pants leg last night and bit me! That did not win her any wet supper either, suffer the dry crunchies madam!

Anyway, that's a quick kitty update. And happy birthday to Greyhaven, 100 years old yesterday. A former home of mine of which I have many happy memories. Sometimes I dream there and sometimes I dream our houses are connected. Kilmurry house is I think about 214. They had a bicentenial right before we bought it, I can check later.

More later,
