Getting ready for the weekend

Nov 30, 2007 23:49

Well, yesterday and today I updated the business websites a bit and got the Celtic crosses listed. Pentacle will have to wait as Wolf forgot to measure it and it was already at the craft show.

Guys said the first night (tonight) of the craft show was a complete washout, this time not because of poor planning but an act of weather. Tomorrow (my turn with John), there is supposed to be a local radio broadcast live from the show. If that doesn't work (with storm coming who knows?) they may drop Sunday. I'm getting a little tired of washed out craft fairs, but at least this one they are trying. Unlike the last one that didn't even put up a sign.

I also have a feeling that local smaller craft fairs may be slipping away as people can shop on the Internet or local shopping centers (which unlike 10 years ago have a lot of relatively interesting things to buy). John said when he was a kid, the Holiday Season always meant a trip to Dublin to buy things, now that is no longer the case. I suspect the local craft fairs were the other alternative. It could also be that there are now just too many of them, as people travel to the larger ones and ignore the smaller ones.

Anyway, tomorrow is another day and we shall see. Tonight I got my combination Wolf pouch and sampler off the loom. It will have to wait to be sewn up, washed and felted a bit. But I wanted to get it done at least so I can work on the pouch itself if I have time. I finally figured out the pattern I had actually put on the loom, which resulted in the simplest treadling. It still wasn't what I was trying for, but I made about a yard and a half of nice, gray and off-white twill I'm sure I can do something with. Wolf really liked my sample brocade part, so I may do some more work with that on another piece.

Now, I'm off to bed as tomorrow is also an EARLY day, Wolf is staying home as his mom is supposed to get in around noon. Though with the forecast I won't be surprised if it is a bit later than that.
