this interview with Ryan about the split. There's a little video, which I can't watch because MTV hates Canada, but, yeah. I'd really like to read an interview with Brendon and Spencer now.
To me the article really read as Ryan saying, "Jon and I like making music together, and we wanted to make music with just the two of us." I was kind of thinking, How do you know you didn't want to make the same music as Brendon & Spencer if you've NEVER HEARD ANYTHING THEY'VE WRITTEN, which I guess makes it seem even more like Ryan just wanted to leave the band. I don't know how to articulate that, really, but hopefully you can read my mind regardless. Ryan and Jon really seem like they think the other one is ... cool, idk, it's not difficult to imagine them getting caught up in writing music together. I wonder at what point Brendon and Spencer started working on their own stuff. It's kind of sad to have it right there in text, Ross said the split was largely due to creative differences between him and Panic! frontman Brendon Urie. Ryan doesn't need Brendon to be his voice any longer.
It's also crazy to have it said explicitly that Ryan and Pete's relationship might be over. Sleepover Princes, ;__; I wonder if this stuff was up in the air when Brendon and Spencer when on that doubledate with Pete and Ashlee. It doesn't seem like that long ago that Ryan was on the date with Pete and Ashlee, and he seemed close with them back then!
I still can't get over the fact that everyone who was fussing about how it seemed like Panic wasn't talking to each other was RIGHT and it was an ACTUAL PROBLEM SITUATION RIGHT THERE! I wonder if Spencer ended up with Brendon by default because Ryan and Jon were a tightly-knit twosome, or if that's the kind of music that he'd push to make as well. It's interesting that it was Ryan and Spencer who decided over lunch to make the split. The band started and ended with them.
In fic related news, I have so freakin' many things going for kink bingo, and I started writing a Panic breakup-ish fic, but I don't know what I want to do with that so maybe I'll wait until there's a bit more canon. I think that what I've got has kind of been Jossed by this Ryan interview, because I had them working together in Brendon's house, and it sounds like they didn't even get as far as that, that things broke down just when they started talking about working on music together. My brain keeps flittering around between different kinks (for kink bingo) and different fandoms and then going back to the most ridiculous fluff about Brendon and Spencer being married, so maybe I will cuddle with my cat and try to figure out what I'm going to focus on.
