Graduation: the Final Gouge.

Did you know that all accommodation in Armidale adjust their prices up by 25 - 50% for the graduation period?

I had suspected that this occurred, but never to such a level! One place believes that on the weekend of my graduation, they can get away with charging nearly $300 per night! I'd be happier with the practice if it didn't extend so far - but seriously, these prices are increased for a couple of days before and after each graduation and for all the time in-between!

Next, I send out invites. Hopefully my mother and two of my brothers, Elliott and Kieran will be coming - but as my mother said, with their work, there is no guarantees. I figure I'll send one to my dad - even tho we've only just began associating again. I'll send one to John Cronley, even though it'll be a sad reminder that his wife, Hiltraud died without seeing me make it to the end. But I don't know who else to invite...

Part of this is because I suspect at this short notice, no one else will be able to come - and the other part is that most people I would like to be there have seen so many grads, it's probably not worth the effort to come see a guy who's own complacency and idiocy meant he didn't graduate with all of them. If any of you reading this can come to the 12th of April UNE Sciences Graduation, and would like to see me do the sit and strut, comment on this please. Free accommodation at the Scaryhouse backpackers can be arranged.

Of course this all assumes I'll have the money for all the gear and jazz I want. As the title of this entry states, it is expensive. I have figured that for everything that I would want to have, it's gonna cost around $500 minimum - and that's gonna suck getting that kind of cash together in this short a time.

I wish me the best of luck.
