Casting
So I'm casting my own Pride and Prejudice. For fun and crackpot musings. Here is the cast so far:
Mr Bingley- James McAvoy
Mr Wickham- Matthew Goode
Mr Collins- Edward Norton
Colonel Fitzwilliam- Paul Bettany
Lady Catherine de Burgh- Eileen Atkins
Mr Bennet- Michael Gambon
Mrs Bennet- Catherine Tate
So far we are missing the most important characters- Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Rejected possibilities for Darcy have so far included Hugh Jackman (too tanned), Richard Armitage (played that sort of role before), James McAvoy (more of a Bingley), Gerard Butler (should be only in films where he gets to beat people up), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (see Gerard Butler), Matthew Goode (more of a Wickham), Edward Norton (would prefer to play Collins), Christian Bale (couldn't pull off nice Darcy), and Richard Chamberlain (ok, I only suggested this because I'm currently watching The Slipper and the Rose).
Just for the record, Colin Firth was not a possibility because he's already played Darcy. Which makes this damn hard as he pretty much IS Darcy. The rules are that no one can be re-cast from another P&P version.
So do you have any suggestions for further casting?
