Reasons Why This Has Been A Good Day For The Merlin Fandom

Dec 09, 2009 00:50

You know what I love? I love that this has been a busy day for the Merlin fandom. Why? Why is the best bit. Because:

a) There was a 5 minute Merlin segment on Blue Peter about the catering. FOOD, PEOPLE! (video and epic discussion of over 100 posts can be found hereb) There was an intense analytical discussion about whether Bradley does indeed ( Read more... )

oh yeah, I second the whole rocking backwards and forwards thing *laughs* been there, done that (well, not really, but you know what I mean ^^)

and yes, it IS a real sense of community. I mean, I've only really been active for ... 2 weeks? (poor me was without internet since early September ...) and I already feel like I know bunches of people and as if THEY know me though I am still the new gal, you know?

and YES! Meet-ups are fun! and if we have a small one first and it goes well we should make it bigger :P I used to be in a german harry potter community, ages ago and at one point we were so familiar with each other that every one brought the entire family along for the meetings and we used to book a house for 2 weeks around new years and just spend all the time together and everyone had their family holiday then xD I mean, not saying it has to grow to such proportions, just saying it's possible! :D

when we meet (saturday, lunch, any idea where? just a thought) we should start planning it a bit, what do you think?

And now, I need sleep. I finished my first assignment (crap one but at this point I don't care anymore) and need to finish the other one tomorrow and I got my busiest uni day tomorrow, too so ... gosh, it's already past 2 ... I will be so dead come 8am ...

talk to ya tomorrow!

Well, I feel like I've only been an active part of the community since the beginning of season 2, so I still feel pretty new. I wonder how many people joined C_L as soon as Arwen started to get completely awesome?

I don't mind where we go for lunch. Do you have any preference? Can we go somewhere either on West Street or in the centre of town? There are plenty of restaurants around there and its pretty easy to get to. YES for the planning! We should make it an epic meet-up of awesome. Also, do you know of any Merlin conventions going on in the near future (or in the far future)?

WELL DONE for finishing your assignment! I'm sure its better than you think!

I will just ... not comment on the assignment part *coughs*

ANYway ... hmm. Well, I have to admit I have not been to that many restaurants around here yet so I would be open to any suggestion. And city centre/west street sounds brilliant. I live on Leadmill Road (oooh, big secret revealed xD)so City Centre is closet for me anyways ;). the only thing I have been to and liked so far is The Graduate. It's on Surrey Street. You know it?

But I would be more than happy to try something new! (know any good chinese place? Dying for some chinese ...)

And YES we WILL make it an epic meet-up of awesome! with your city/country knowledge and my maybe-event manager skills it'll be the event of the year!

About the conventions - haven't heard of one, sadly ... but I have to admit you mentioning that suddenly makes me wonder if maybe I should start planning one. Half the people in my course are doing/planning gigs and festivals already with the help of the tutors ... oh noooes, bad idea, go away ... *slaps hand over ears and hums you're the voice*

NO! YOU MUST DO IT! ORGANISE LIKE THE WIND, MY YOUNG PADAWAN! That would be totally awesome. If you needed help, I could be your second-in-command.

Is The Graduate the one opposite the Library, next to the Winter Gardens? Cos if it is, I have been there and wouldn't object to going there again. Not sure about which Chinese restaurants are good as I've only been to a few in Sheffield and didn't like any of them!

*stares* BUT I HAS NO CLUE!!! *stares some more* we'd need sponsors and a venue and people actually attending and and ... and we'd need activities to get everyone happy and we'd need a website to promote it and catering and ... *mind blacks out* I AM SCARED *laughs*

The thing is, apart from being scared ... I WOULD SO DO IT ANYWAYS ... but not alone. BUT - if you're REALLY in, as in, REALLY, as in us trying to pull it off and make it a proper thing ... I'd so be in! ....

and, yep, the grad is exactly there. opposite library, next to winter gardens ... I wonder if I should bring something to write because it seems like we might be there a while *laughs*

*has mental list of crazy things she has to plan for merlin fandom*

-convention
-summer trip to Pierrefonds with ravilievna and bossygenius
-roadtrip to cardiff with crazy fangirl group

uhuh oO

(don't take me seriously. I love to complain but in all honestly I am loving it and I love a challenge and the thrill and all that. oh and, I am serious. When I say I would do something like that, I do it. Suprises some people. Like a friend of mine who thought I was joking when I asked if she wanted to come to london for NYE and see David in Hamlet. well, I wasn't and I ended up organising a trip for 10 girls, was epic :D)

Is it too soon to declare my undying love? I adore people who actually DO things they fangirl over and say they're going to do. Usually I'm not someone who would actually do said things as I'm usually alone in it. But...if you want to do it...and think we could pull it off...I'm in. Bring a notepad and pen.

You're going to Pierrefonds?? *is jealous* Will you be there when they're filming?

So, the Graduate? What time is best? 12? 1?

will bring notepad and pen for sure! noon sounds fine!

And, you see, the thing is ... all our tutors constantly say that she should already start getting a food in, you know what I mean? half of the people in my course (Events Management with Arts and Entertainment) have planned events around sheffield already or are in the planning process and we constantly get encouraged to do so ... that is why I figure it might actually work. I know that most of our tutors will at least give advice when you talk to them and that is one of the things I'd really like to do later so why now try it when the opportunity presents itself?

About Pierrefonds ... well, nothing is set in stone. just bossygenius and me decided we would and we have done crazy fangirl trips together before so I am pretty confident we'll pull this off, too. No idea yet when we'll go and how (not to mention I am so not sure when they'll actually start shooting there again ...) and you should totally come along if you can xD Obviously we played with the thought of renting a blue ford (it was a ford, yeah? O___o can't remember) just to appear even more stupid xD

I love that you can class arranging a convention as uni work. The fandom is invading your real life! I'm starting to think that it might...actually...work...Especially since you have tutors who will be able to give you advice etc. *is excited*

Real life permitting, I'd definitely like to come to Pierrefonds! Then again, just this morning I agreed to go on a random trip to Boston (USA) in March. to be honest, Pierrefonds sounds more realistic.

RENT A BLUE FORD AND HAVE "YOU'RE THE VOICE" PLAYING ON REPEAT!

Yes, we did say Saturday, THIS Saturday. The one that is approaching rapidly. How will I recognise you in The Graduate? Oh, and (perhaps quite a late question), what's your real name? My name is Laura. Nice to meet you. *handshake*

*sticks out hand* in germany we would say "Gebongt" xD Which isn't even a real word but we say it anyway. I think translated it would mean as much as "receipted" so you see how little sense there is but we say it when we agree on something .... long story short -

SEE YA SATURDAY, NOON, THE GRAD!
