THE RULES

¦¦ We're here to party! We understand that everyone has a life outside of the game and Disenchantment might not always be your #1 priority. However, you've made the commitment to the game and it does come with expectations. We expect all members to post a journal entry every two weeks and a thread at least once a month. It's not stringent, as activity requirements go, so it's something that will be enforced. In addition, we don't tolerate people skating by with minimal participation. What does that mean to you as a player? Well, if you've been silent for two weeks and are notified that your character is in danger of being cut, it is not acceptable to simply update your journal and disappear again without replying to comments or participating in the game as a whole. We're here to develop our characters and playing that way isn't fair to anyone.

We do understand the need for a hiatus every now and again. Real life has a way of getting in the way sometimes and that's completely expected. However, we do not allow indefinite hiatuses. A hiatus is allowed for up to three weeks and you may not ask for consecutive hiatuses. If you're gone longer than this, we'll need to open the character up again.

¦¦ Show your intelligence! We all have moments where we're in a hurry and we forget something. However, if it's repeated, it's a problem. RPGs revolve around the written word. We don't expect you all to be the next Dickens, Shakespeare, or Hemingway, but we do expect you to be coherent. There are always stylistic differences in characters and a character of higher intelligence is always going to be more eloquent than that of lower intelligence. We do take that into consideration. But even that must be done with intent.

¦¦ Remember canon! This game is striving to explore the world that Harry, Ron, and Hermione left behind when they left Hogwarts. All the events of Deathly Hallows are still occurring through game play and this game is canon compliant. That means, if you're unsure, check your facts! All the mods are pretty well-versed on HP canon, so if you have a question, feel free to ask or consult The Lexicon.

¦¦ We're not here for sailing! What does that mean? Keep control of the ships. Yes, we understand that people have social lives and date. That's not a problem. However, when a character revolves solely around their relationship with another character, that's an issue. So even if your character is dating someone, remember that they should interact with everyone. And remember that dating does not count as your character's plot. Relationships should be developed realistically.

¦¦ Remember your manners! It's the basics as in any game, my friends. No god-modding. No power plays. Respect your fellow RP members. Your character is not perfect and does not know all. If you're not familiar with roleplaying in this format, please feel free to talk to the mods. We love to talk and we'll be more than happy to explain things and give you pointers! But so many people are familiar with roleplaying in this format, repeating the basics again seems unnecessary.

¦¦ No, no, no drama! Please, don't do it. If you have an issue with another person in the game, resolve it in a private matter or contact one of the mods for a resolution. Public chats and the boards themselves are not the place to air your issues with another player. Not only is it rude, it creates a hostile environment for your fellow game members and isn't fair to anyone. And please, remember drama rules apply to the mods too. We're here to do what's best for the game and yes, the mods have the final say. We debate about everything to make sure we're doing what's needed for our players. Being rude is unnecessary. Sometimes what is best for one character isn't best for the game and, while we hate to say no, it has to be done. We treat everyone in our game with respect and expect them to do the same, both with us and with one another.

¦¦ The sky's the limit! The sky may be the limit, however our character limit is three. No more. That's it. There's nothing to say that this won't be changed at some point in time, but should that happen, we'll let you know. We don't make exceptions. Sorry. And, on the subject of age limits, we don't have one at Disenchantment, however you should be aware that some material in the game may have adult themes. Maturity is a plus. This is a dark themed game and, if you can't handle this, this game may not be for you.

¦¦ Girls just wanna have fun! And boys too! You RP to have fun. We, as mods, are here to ensure that you are having fun! If you have any questions, comments, or input, we value all. We're here for you so take advantage of it!
