Where: Academic building, first floor. When: Right now. You're already late. Who: Scar and his class. What: First lesson >> introductions and class overview. Warnings: Nothing you wouldn't expect from a generally bad-tempered lion.
"Before we begin, I understand that there are a handful of you I have not yet had the... pleasure of meeting. My name is Scar, and I will be your Philosophy instructor. You may address me as "professor," and before any of you launch into the questions I know many of you are simply bursting to ask, allow me to make a few things quite plain.
Yes, I am a lion, yes, I can speak, no, this is not unusual where I come from, and no, I am certainly not something to be goggled at like a caged animal at a zoo. If you are interested in anything of that nature, I suggest you leave now and take a trip off-campus to just such a place. I'm sure the less intelligent beasts there will be pleased to see someone else sharing their brain capacity

The young man looking very bored, with a sleeping flying eel on his shoulder, was next.
"Mozenrath, from the Land of the Black Sand. I hope to gain something useful."
Though, honestly, he had no idea what he was supposed to learn against the Black Mist by taking such a useless class. To make sure his misery wasn't unshared he flicked the 'nose' of his eel with his finger, which made it squeak and start paying attention again.
Scar was unable to look anything but disgusted at the snakelike thing on Mozenrath's shoulder. "Would you care to introduce that... thing to the rest of the class?" he asked. The sooner Mozenrath explained what it was, the sooner Scar could tell him it wasn't allowed.

"I'm sure you will find this class different from many others in that you will have no written work our outside reading. This does not excuse you from dedicating a fair amount of time to your studies outside of the classroom. Each class we will have a discussion of how the previous lesson's concept operates in your day-to-day lives, and the concept of each class will in turn focus on the observations you make. Philosophy is unique in that it has no beginning or end, there will be very few basics to cover before you will be expected to leap right into the fray. Your grade will be determined by your ability to contribute worthwhile information to the class' discussion

Simba had done his best to listen throughout this entire introduction and overview. He always knew his uncle could talk but...this was forever. He found himself falling asleep only once, and as soon as he did reverted to sitting upwards instead of laying down.
Finally once his uncle finished speaking, he raised his paw in the awkward manner he'd seen the humans do it. "Uncl--Professor, what is a project?"

"Hi. My name's Megara. And...I'm from Thebes. And I hope to gain...an actual lesson in Philosophy."
Because the philosophy classes in Thebes? None too philosophical.
