barking bak bakunin

so, there exists a phrase; 'managed out'.

there is this person, who's been working in the same role for several years. it's an idiot's job, the absolute bottom rung, simple, mechanical and requires no thinking. this person has not been promoted because he is not capable of anything more. the idiot can only do an idiot's job.

in the company of management types (you know, the waste of space types) i have learned that this is not desired. the direct supervisor will be held accountable for not putting this person on a career development plan. a lateral move, stretch assignments, something.

drama! the direct supervisor knows this person is useless. enter: manage out. strategies include reasonably low ratings so that bonuses are lower.

this confused me, i would think this person is an asset. happy doing the same drill everyday, knew there were oppotunities out there, didn't give a shit. caveat: risky asset, everyday brings increased probability of departure. but the bottomline is; so what? idiot gets better pay somewhere else, new guy starts at less all the raises of his predecessor. and they lived happily ever after.

the lesson for me here is that the man is fucked up. in fact, the man's thought process is fucked up. i would go as far as to say the man is stupid. loyalty is repaid with the creation of hostile environment which promotes resignation. and i'm there thinking what the fuck did i do wrong? fuck the man. fuck him hard.
