What’s this? You’re wearing the shirt of the band you’re going to see? Don’t be that guy.

Before Jeremy Piven was Ari on “Entourage”…even before he was Ellen’s sarcastic cousin Spence Kovac…before you probably ever heard of Jeremy Piven….there was “PCU”.

In 1994 a small, underrated college comedy “PCU” hit the theatres, or should I say theatre. Hart Bochner’s film opened up on a single screen May 1, 1994 and went undiscovered by most fans until its video release. When “PCU” hit video shelves, it quickly became a cult college classic. Not nearly the classic that “Animal House” and “Revenge of the Nerds” became, “PCU” is more of a cult classic for a small niche group of teens and college aged kids who discovered the video most likely by accident and probably didn’t pass the word on.

“PCU” stars Jeremy Piven as a seventh year college student James “Droz” Andrews (can you say Van Wilder?) at Port Chester University who chaperones a high school senior visiting the campus for the weekend. As you can guess from the history of college campus comedies, partying, debauchery and battles of College vs. Students ensue. “PCU” has everything from a vegetarian protest being interrupted by meat throwing, to an all night rave featuring none other than George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic as the house band.

“PCU” isn’t close to falling in the top 10 best college comedies, but it is worth a Friday night viewing with your buddies. I have fond memories of watching “PCU” about 9 times with my friends in high school. Although sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one who ever remembers the movie…

*Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of David Spade and John Favreau.
