laura played this for me one day, and i took an instant liking to it because it samples 'i can't go for that' by hall & oates, which is probably my favorite song of theirs.
2. 'monotone' _ splender
i remember 99x playing this quite a lot back in the day. almost as fun to sing along to as dexter freebish's 'leaving town', but more on the pissed off side, which i love.
3. 'maps' _ the yeah yeah yeahs
this song is alex's doing. therefore, when i cry because of it, it's his fault. but that's okay, because i love him - and this song. her voice is pure aching. and kinda reminds me of chrissy hynde, too.
4. 'goodbye horses' _ q lazzarus
i love silence of the lambs, and i love this song because of it. i freaked out when this came on during 80's night at vibe that one time we went.
5. 'PDA' _ interpol
caught the video on 'sonic videos' on ifc or sundance, can't remember which channel. but it hooked me. nifty video, too.

this one made mom dance. probably still does. one of my memories from nicaragua is being in some bar/restaurant that had a tv, and an abba video came on. they were in snow and fur-lined coats. not sure which song...'knowing me, knowing you'??

dad had a cat stevens cassette. 'teaser and the firecat' or something. and i liked this song.
