The Doctor's Wife

I've just finished watching this ep literally a minute ago and I'm still having trouble breathing. My eyes are swollen and my nose is clogged, I have never cried this hard during an episode before. Granted I still haven't seen Ten's final two episodes (still in denial, so imagine how much this episode affected me) but just believe me when I say that there was a lot of tears. A lot. And sobbing.

My head's all over the place with this one. I could watch it over again to give a comprehensive review but I want to go with one viewing and talk about the parts that really stuck with me. I haven't been reading spoilers or anything remotely connected to this one so I was watching it "blind". Though the idea of Time Lords existing outside of the Universe excited me, all I could think of was the TARDIS.

Prior to the whole revelation re: the TARDIS (around the bit where the Doctor discovered the cabinet with all the psychic SOS boxes) I kept thinking how it used to be that the TARDIS was treated more like a person, with feelings/thoughts/etc. Think back to S3 with Martha visiting the TARDIS once in a while when she was stuck in Farringham with Ten. Rose and Donna had their moments with the TARDIS as well. But ever since Ten snapped his finger in S4 to open her up, I felt like a vital connection was lost. Of course the Doctor treats her much the same as before, but it felt like she became more of a vessel than the first and permanent Companion.

So when Idris and Eleven had that conversation: BOOM. The TARDIS can speak! She thinks her name is Sexy (and she is, oh yes)! And SHE stole a Time Lord. Can she be any more fantastic? Basically, YES.

- She jump-started the makeshift console she and Eleven built
- She thinks Rory is the pretty one (Rory/TARDIS OTP lol ♥ )
- She archives all the previous (and future) desktops!

As to the third point, god. I know I know, I need to accept the fact that Ten is gone. But when I saw his console room I cried. No, bawled. I read somewhere before that his console was going to feature sometime this season but I didn't expect it in this episode, and definitely not in this way. So thanks, Neil Gaiman, for poking me in that sensitive spot!

And can I just say how amazing the script is for this one?

- "Fear me, I've killed hundreds of Time Lords."
"Fear me, I killed all of them."

- "I'm alive."
"Alive isn't sad."
"It is when it's over."

- "There's somthing I didn't get to say to you."
"Goodbye."
"No. I just wanted to say, hello. Hello, Doctor. It's so very very nice to meet you."

I loved all of it. Favorite Eleven episode! And we've got a new word to rival timey-wimey, don't we? :P
