Flexible Squares

If you're like me and haven't looked at LiveJournal and its themes in a long time, you might be surprised to find that Flexible Squares is no longer supported. And for some reason the Flexible Squares layer I had been using for years is now giving compiling errors.

Thankfully, sireesanwar at layout_lounge posted a fix for paid users. (The link for the source code is outdated. This is the correct link.) I was able to use their source code and add in a few changes from my original layer to reproduce the exact style and without any compiling errors. Hooray!

ETA: After a weekend of tinkering with the code I'm finally content with the final result. The most difficult part was figuring out how to permalink the date, but after going through decade-old posts and replies on s2flexisquares, I was able to find the right coding.

For reference, the original CSS is based on stimulus' Peter Rabbit, but I've heavily edited it. The link for the source code is also outdated. This is the correct link.
