OMG my love grows!
Dean is a gang leader who sources The Art of War like some kind of gang management textbook! ("What? I *can* read!" I love him!)
And EC! Aw, when she let down all those defences for Dean and apologised for her stupidity (yet left her jealousy unspoken), I felt for her as much as Dean did. And Dean doesn't love her, not like she loves him, but he'll comfort and protect her because she's like his family, and that shot of him curled up next to her in bed, and her face is turned away to the camera and she's weeping? *breaks* Poor EC. She's hurt and she's scared and she knows Dean doesn't care for her in the way she wants him too, so she just takes whatever closeness she can get. (Meanwhile, Riz the cute Asian guy is totally in love with EC and she doesn't want to see it. This show is so wonderfully Shakespearean...y'know, just set in the Western suburbs with a bunch of criminials.)
And then Detective Field (Joel Edgerton) uses EC's insecurities about just being "one of the blokes" to take little digs at her, trying to chip away the gang's closeness. It's brilliant. *He's* brilliant. I'm loving his evil side. Because of his dodgy car racket stuff, I thought he would be responsible for bashing Riz so it was a nice touch to have him reprimand the other cop. And when he gave his speech about being able to manipulate people *without* force, it hit me: Mark Field and Dean are so similar. Both smart guys taking advantage of the fact that they're surrounded by not-so-smart guys. I am gleefully anticipating seeing those two up against each other...with Donna in the middle.
Not 100% keen on Donna yet, but that sex scene with the burning stolen cars as a backdrop was hot. I love Dean's flamboyance. Why just rut with a chick in the backseat of her tiny car, when you can do it right - take her out for a night of break and enters, forklift stealing, ramraiding, and then when the giant wads of cash are secure and the getaway vehicles are flaming around you, you can make her strip and do her right there. Awesome foreplay, Dean. This guy makes an *effort*.
So scared now that Dean's in with Lukovic and doing thuggish things. Dean's not a thug. This can only end badly.
This show needs to be on free-to-air TV so everyone can watch. Not that they'd get away with half their story on FTA. Or, I have invites to an awesome Australian torrent site if anyone would like one (you can also get Home and Away there *g*).
